According to the latest weekly report from CoinShares on investment flows in digital assets, the euphoria generated by the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States on January 20 has been the main catalyst for mass inflows recorded by crypto funds in the last week, which have reached a record $2.200 billion.
CoinShares stressed that this volume of flows not only marks the largest weekly figure of the year, but has also raised the assets under management (AuM) of digital asset funds to a record high of $171.000 billion dollars.

James Butterfill, author of the CoinShares report, highlighted that political enthusiasm has been a key factor in this rally. “Digital asset investment products saw $2.200 billion in inflows last week amid the euphoria of Trump’s inauguration, the largest week of inflows so far this year, bringing year-to-date inflows to $2.800 billion,” he commented.
Bitcoin leads capital inflows into investment funds
Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, has been the main beneficiary of this influx of investment. According to the report, Bitcoin-linked funds received $1.900 billion in inflows, which represents 86% of total inflows over the past week. This data reinforces Bitcoin's position as the digital asset of choice for institutional investors seeking exposure to an asset considered a store of value in times of uncertainty.

Despite the recent surge in the price of Bitcoin, which has surpassed $109.000 for the first time, setting a new all-time high (ATH), investors have shown an insatiable appetite for this digital asset. Interestingly, the report also revealed that short positions on Bitcoin saw outflows of less than $0,5 million, an atypical behavior in a context of rising prices according to Butterfill.
Ethereum and XRP also on investors' radar
While Bitcoin has garnered most of the attention from fund investors, other cryptocurrencies have also seen a surge in capital inflows.
Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency, recorded revenues of $246 million dollars, which has helped correct the outflows it had experienced in the first weeks of the year. Despite this rebound, Ethereum remains the worst-performing asset in terms of investment flows in 2025, according to the CoinShares report.
On the other hand, XRP has continued its positive streak, with an additional $31 million inflows last week. Since mid-November 2024, XRP has accumulated a total of $484 million in inflows, cementing itself as one of the most attractive cryptocurrencies for institutional investors. This growth has been driven by optimism surrounding its adoption in the traditional financial sector, its use in cross-border transactions, and the prospects for crypto-friendly regulations in the United States.
The global landscape of cryptoasset investments
While the United States has been the epicenter of this capital flow, other countries have also seen significant inflows into crypto-asset investment funds.
Switzerland, for example, known for its robust financial ecosystem, received $89 million in cryptocurrency investments, while Canada saw inflows of $13 million. This data reflects a growing interest in cryptocurrencies globally, especially in regions with clear and favorable regulatory frameworks for digital assets.

This figure represents 34% of the total Bitcoin trading volume on trusted exchanges, underlining the growing importance of traditional financial products in the crypto ecosystem.
A promising 2025 for cryptoassets
Record inflows into crypto funds are not only an indicator of current optimism, but also a sign of trends that could define the market in 2025. With Increasing institutional adoption and a favorable policy environment in the United States, many analysts expect this year to mark a turning point for cryptocurrencies in general.
The euphoria generated by Trump's arrival to the presidency of the United States has been a key catalyst for the record weekly capital inflows into cryptoasset funds and his mandate could see these digital assets increasingly become a transformative force in the world of finance.
