Deutsche Telekom joins Polygon Network as validator

Polygon has partnered with Deutsche Telekom, one of the world's largest telecommunications operators.

Deutsche Telekom has officially become one of the 100 validators securing the Polygon Network, providing infrastructure for this growing blockchain ecosystem.

The German-based telecom giant has partnered with the Ethereum scalability sidechain through its subsidiary Deutsche Telekom MMS. The collaboration between the two aims to expand Deutsche Telekom’s involvement in the blockchain industry while securing the Polygon PoS sidechain and Supernets, which are special, autonomous chains on the Polygon network that are connected to the Ethereum blockchain.

As a new Polygon validator, Deutsche Telekom will contribute to the security of the network and the decentralization of its governance, they explained developers via Twitter.

Deutsche Telekom: Polygon is one of the most user-friendly and efficient blockchains

As one of the 100 validators securing the Polygon network, Deutsche Telekom will run a node to validate, verify and approve transactions and participate in the network consensus.

In a press release, Deutsche Telekom stressed that Node validators play a key role in the operation and security of blockchains. The telecommunications company also reported that it will offer staking services and will help develop mass-market applications on this blockchain.

Speaking about the partnership between Deutsche Telekom and Polygon Network, the head of the company's blockchain solutions center, Dirk Röder, commented that Polygon is one of the most developer- and builder-friendly blockchain ecosystems, as well as one of the most resource-efficient.

Röder acknowledged that Polygon has become the leading second-layer solution for Ethereum scalability. “It is based on the highest security standards of the Ethereum ecosystem,” he said.

Meanwhile, Michael Blank, COO of Polygon Labs, said the company will leverage its recent collaboration with Deutsche Telekom to drive adoption of blockchain and Web3 technology by businesses and consumers. “This collaboration… will provide consumers with the opportunity to take advantage of the ownership and autonomy that Web3 technology provides,” Blank said.

In addition to Polygon Network, Deutsche Telekom is also a validator for other major blockchain networks and crypto ecosystems, including Ethereum, Flow, Celo, Polkadot and Chainlink.

The gateway to Web3

Polygon has embarked on a mission to become the gateway to Web3. With its constant development and innovation, this blockchain has managed to attract giants such as Google, which last month joined the network as a strategic cloud provider for Web3 products and decentralized applications (dApps) on Polygon protocols.

Mastercard, Nike, Starbucks, Reddit and Siemens are also among the hundreds of brands that have joined the Polygon Network ecosystem, attracted by its growth and innovation.
