The alliance announced this week aims to optimize the operation of the Resella non-fungible token platform, bringing great benefits to the company's players, by rreduce issuance and marketing costs of NFT tokens and improve user experience in general.
According to Konami Digital Entertainment, the digital arm of Konami Group, Avalanche’s open-source blockchain technology is being integrated into Resella to enhance all services offered through the platform, with an emphasis on user experience.
In this way, players of Konami, one of the most influential video game and entertainment companies in Japan, will be able to enjoy unprecedented efficiency, with ultra-fast speeds and with zero gas costs, within the platform. On the other hand, the company indicated that the creators of non-fungible tokens will also be able to use the new tools and functionalities offered by Avalanche to create and issue more innovative NFT projects without complications.
Konami uses an Avalanche subnet
Resella is developed as a non-fungible token solution on an Avalanche subnet, the Japanese video game company said. Thanks to this, the platform simplifies the creation, issuance and negotiation of NFTs, while encouraging the transition of users and creators to the Web3 space.
Avalanche subnets are independent blockchains that are built on top of the main platform and can set their own governance and tokenomics rules. This will allow Konami to enjoy a limitless environment that can accommodate both Japanese and global users. In fact, the gaming and entertainment company recently reported that it will resell will support transactions in yen, the fiat currency of the Japanese country.
This NFT token platform was first announced last year, with the idea of optimizing Konami experiences by integrating the potential of blockchain technology.
An important point to note about Avalanche subnets, as explained by its developers, is that these sidechains implement the code SubnetEVM by default, which ensures the Ethereum Virtual Machine Support, EVM and with smart contracts and applications developed with the Solidity programming language of Ethereum.
Utility and value in the real world
NFTs that are minted on the Resella platform can be used to Unlock real-world benefits and rewardsThe gaming company emphasized that the tokens can transcend the virtual world and serve as tickets to unlock access to exclusive gaming content and experiences; for example, they can be used as entry tickets to attend events and much more.
Resella also seeks to accelerate entry into the Web3 ecosystem, fostering social experiences for users and, in the future, integrating companies and institutions. The company reportedly plans to open up access to its NFT token platform to companies that want to explore this sector of the blockchain industry.
From Castlevania to Resella: Konami's move into blockchain technology
Konami began exploring blockchain technology in 2022, with the development of an NFT experience inspired by its video game Castlevania. The experience was based on a collection of digital art developed on Ethereum’s Layer2 blockchain, Polygon Network. The company’s users could collect 14 digital works in NFT format of the game’s characters.
The company hosted an NFT token auction on the Opensea marketplace, which consisted of various in-game items, such as a map of Dracula's Castle, full videos and clips from Castlevania, music, and more.
In addition to Konami, other video game developers have been entering the blockchain industry to test the potential use cases of this technology, such as Ubisoft, GFAL, Lussa, SEGA, among others.
