Citizens from all over the world will be able to participate in the various academic courses offered by the educational platform Coursera in partnership with the Secretariat for Digital Policies of the government of Catalonia, Spain.

The Government of Catalonia, through an educational program promoted by the Secretariat of Digital Policies, established a training agreement with the renowned virtual education platform Coursera, to offer a total of 4.000 training courses that will be focused on various sectors. The courses that will be taught during the agreement will be completely free and citizens of any country in the world who wish to acquire new knowledge, deepen their knowledge of new skills and abilities or complement their academic and professional level will be able to participate. 

The trainings will focus on various sectors, including technological development and blockchain, which are sectors that currently have a high demand in the market. In total, Coursera will teach a total of 83 courses focused on the study and knowledge of blockchain technology, so that students can start from scratch to learn about the properties and characteristics of this incredible and potentially developing technology. 

All courses offered by the platform include certifications and special training programs for all those who wish to further deepen their knowledge and prepare for better job offers. The initiative is also supported by Barcelona Digital Talent, a company focused on boosting the competitiveness of digital talent within labor markets.

An initiative to improve the professional profile of millions of people around the world

From basic training to advanced skills, the goal of Coursera and the Government of Catalonia is to help millions of people around the world, who have been affected by the pandemic and the current economic crisis, to significantly improve their professional profile, to re-enter the competitive labor market. With this perspective, the virtual education platform will train students in the management of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), in digital innovation and blockchain technology, in social entrepreneurship, as well as other areas such as health, social sciences, arts, mathematics, personal development, languages, and many others. 

Specifically, the training aimed at developing digital skills and blockchain technology corresponds to the development of digital, mobile and web applications, Big Data, robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), video game design and the development of applications, systems and projects based on blockchain.

In their statement, the government of Catalonia and Coursera assure that students will enjoy a complete educational experience, since the courses are developed and supported by renowned universities, such as the Yale University, the University of Michigan and University of Illinois of the United States, as well as the Tomsk State National Research University from Russia, which will also be part of the trainers. Among the world-renowned technology companies and organizations are ConsenSys, whose experience in the technology industry and blockchain development will guarantee a pleasant experience.
