Cardano’s new node software update enables the use of new capabilities and includes some improvements to the network’s command-line interface (CLI), which will allow developers to enjoy Vasil’s new functionalities when it is deployed on the mainnet.
Cardano has released a new node software update, which according to Ben O'Hanlon, Head of Community Engagement and Marketing Insights and Communications at IOHK UK, It is the release candidate to bring the Vasil hard fork to the main network.
La New Cardano Software Update v1.35.3 introduces a number of fixes and new improvements that address some major issues with older versions of the node, according to a GitHub post by Input Output (IOHK), the company responsible for Cardano’s development. While none of these issues are considered significant enough to prevent the implementation of the Vasil hard fork on the mainnet, the company noted that the new software update provides nodes on the network with full Vasil capabilities.

Cardano developers have been working on the new Vasil update, which will be implemented as a hard fork on the main network, to improve its scalability and optimize the functions of its smart contracts, something that will be reflected in the capacity and performance of the network.
Cardano v1.35.3 is now the basis for the Vasil upgrade
According to O'Hanlon, the updated Cardano node software version is presented as the basis for Vasil's arrival on the main network, so he called on the network's node operators to update their nodes to the new available software version and be prepared for the next hard fork.
Although the developers have not set a date for Vasil's deployment on the mainnet, earlier this month, Charles Hoskinson, the lead developer of Cardano, assured that The development of this update is progressing at a steady and systematic pace., so its arrival on the mainnet will no longer be delayed.
The Vasil upgrade was announced by Cardano in mid-April. At the time, the blockchain developers indicated that the upgrade would be rolled out to the network at the protocol level in June. However, while the upgrade has already been tested on Cardano's testnet, its arrival on the mainnet has been delayed on several occasions. The most recent of these was at the end of July, when Cardano developers announced the need for more time to be able to carry out further testing of Vasil before its final deployment.
Cardano has become a rich blockchain ecosystem
Despite Vasil's postponements, the Cardano crypto community remains optimistic about future changes and improvements that the network will experience. The update Vasil is part of the developers' roadmap in the Basho era, focused on Cardano optimization, scalability, and interoperability.
As we have reported in this medium, Cardano is a blockchain for smart contracts that is built on a scientific basis, so its development has been advancing in different phases.
In early 2021, the network implemented the Mary upgrade, which enabled new functionalities to allow users to create multiple native assets on Cardano. Later in August last year, the Alonzo upgrade was implemented, which introduced support for smart contracts on the mainnet and has been turning Cardano into a rich and promising ecosystem of decentralized applications and NFT projects.
According to data from DeFi Llama, decentralized projects based on the Cardano network have a liquidity of more than 102 million at the time of writing this article. In addition to this, in early June, the network reached a new milestone surpassing 1.000 projects in development in its protocol and earlier this month hit a new record with more than 3,5 million wallets created to date.
