Cardano launches the first toolkit to build custom sidechains

Input Output Global, the company developing the Cardano blockchain, has launched a toolkit for building an ecosystem of sidechains, which will boost the scalability and decentralization of the network.

Cardano development continues to advance as developers build new functionalities and features for the third-generation scientific blockchain.

Recently, the company building the Cardano network, Input Output Global (IOG), announced in a publication el launch of the first toolkit for building custom sidechains within its ecosystem. This is a set of tools that will help the scientific blockchain to increase its scalability and decentralization without compromising its stability and security

After several years in development and some delays in its roadmap, the arrival of this sidechain toolkit represents a step forward in the construction of the blockchain network.

Cardano says decentralization and interoperability are key aspects for the future of the industry.

Sidechains are coming to the Cardano blockchain

Cardano's new toolkit will initially be available through a testnet, which developers who wish to do so can use to experiment with the Creation of new sidechains or specific side chains for each objective or need

In the post, the company reported that this public sidechain testnet is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and will be available this month.

Each of the sidechains built from Cardano’s new toolkit will rely on the mainnet and will be able to transfer tokens and assets between each other via a blockchain bridge.

However, each sidechain will run independently of the mainnet, allowing them to have their own algorithms and consensus features, IOG explained.

What does Cardano's new toolkit include?

For the launch of this new toolkit, IOG has involved a number of elements that will facilitate the construction of sidechains. Among these elements are the Plutus scripts, which will ensure the secure transfer of tokens between the Cardano mainnet and sidechains.

Also included is a chain transmitter which will be responsible for tracking mainnet data and events that govern the sidechain. Lastly, IOG comments on the integration of a side chain module, which will interpret the mainnet data and implement the necessary ledger adaptations.

All of these elements will allow blockchain developers to familiarize themselves with the new toolkit in order to transfer and move data and assets between chains, implement various consensus mechanisms, test new secure sidechains and Expand Cardano's capabilities and use cases with new projects and investigations.

According to IOG, Cardano ecosystem developers will be able to start experimenting with sidechains this month. Its new toolkit is currently being audited.

Following the announcement, the price of ADA remains trading above $0,34 and shows a weekly growth of 7,8%.
