Elon Musk's Tesla and SpaceX own nearly 20.000 bitcoins

Arkham Intelligence, a blockchain analytics platform, has claimed to have found the Bitcoin addresses of Elon Musk's companies Tesla and SpaceX, where nearly 20.000 BTC are stored.

Until recently, it was known that Tesla, Elon Musk's electric car company, owned about 10.725 bitcoins, which the company has retained after the sale carried out in mid-2022, and in which it was disposed of 75% of its holdings in cryptocurrency.

Musk explained that selling his bitcoins was not a death sentence for the cryptocurrency and that Tesla had made this decision to improve its cash flow. Musk even said at the time that he did not rule out the possibility of buying Bitcoin again.

However, until now, the exact amount of bitcoins held by his company was unknown. Even SpaceX, dedicated to aerospace manufacturing and space transportation, maintains investments in Bitcoin, but like Tesla, Musk has never revealed the exact amounts he has in the cryptocurrency.

Now, Arkham Intelligence claims to have found all the Bitcoin addresses belonging to Tesla and SpaceX, and with them, the exact amount of the cryptocurrency held by both companies.

19.800 bitcoins stored in 96 BTC addresses

In a post on the social network X (formerly Twitter), the blockchain analysis firm highlighted that Tesla currently holds a total of 11.510 BTC, which are valued at around $780 million based on the current market price of Bitcoin. The platform noted that Tesla keeps this amount of bitcoins stored in 68 BTC addresses.

Moreover, SpaceX has a total of 8.290 BTC, which are valued at around $560 million and are stored in 28 cryptocurrency addresses.

In its post, Arkham Intelligence claimed to be the first crypto analytics platform to publicly identify Tesla and SpaceX's Bitcoin holdings.

According to the firm, Tesla bought $1.500 billion worth of Bitcoin in 2021 and then sold $1.208 billion worth of the cryptocurrency between the first quarter of 2021 and the second quarter of 2022. The company also bought BTC between March 24 and May 12, 2021, said the platform.

Despite the sale of bitcoins, Tesla remains as the third public company in terms of BTC holdings, after MicroStrategy and Marathon Digital Holdings.

On the other hand, the combined total of the 19.800 bitcoins held by Tesla and SpaceX, according to data revealed by Arkham Intelligence, amounts to $1.340 billion dollars, with the cryptocurrency trading on the market very close to $67.000 dollars per unit.
