44% of the top 100 companies use blockchain amid growing crypto adoption

A report from enterprise blockchain adoption analytics platform Blockdata published on October 6 shows growing interest from businesses.

The blockchain and crypto sector is growing in terms of adoption and use among major companies, institutions and public and institutional actors globally, despite the setbacks caused by current macroeconomic problems or regulatory obstacles.

According to a report from enterprise blockchain adoption analytics platform Blockdata published on October 6, 44 percent of the top 100 companies by market capitalization across the six major sectors analyzed are currently actively using blockchain.

Companies in the technology, telecommunications and media sectors are the most involved in the blockchain sector (36%), with companies such as Meta, Adobe and Nvidia standing out. On the other hand, we find the retail and consumer sectors (20%) and industrial and basic materials (20%), with companies such as Paypal, UPS and Nike, which have also begun to implement blockchain technology in their different business and commercial processes.

At this point, Meta is developing NFT compatibility for Instagram and Paypal allows its customers to buy, hold and sell cryptocurrencies, as well as transfer them to external wallets, to name a few examples.

As for the location of these institutional players that have begun to implement blockchain and crypto technology, most of them are located in the United States (63%) and in Mainland China and Hong Kong (12%).

On the other hand, this Blockdata report also shows that in addition to banks and financial institutions, other corporations are including blockchain in different areas such as improving supply chain transparency or creating customer loyalty programs. Blockchain technology is also being implemented in the design and marketing of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

More and more entities are filing trademark applications related to the metaverse, cryptocurrencies and NFTs with the US Patent and Trademark Office, adding up to more than 6000 blockchain and NFT-related trademarks in the US since January 1 of this year, according to Finbold data.
