Activision Blizzard President Named Otherside CEO

📍‌Daniel Alegre is leaving his position at Activision Blizzard to focus on the development of Yuga Labs' Otherside metaverse. The company behind the Bored Ape and Mutant Ape crypto collections and the Otherside metaverse has hired the former CEO of Activision Blizzard, the video game and console company acquired by Microsoft, to lead the development of its immersive virtual world Otherside. 

Alegre will serve as Activision Blizzard's president and chief operating officer until March 31, when his current contract with the video game developer expires. However, Alegre has already secured a spot at one of the companies most committed to Web3 development, Yuga Labs. 

Wylie Aronow, one of the co-founders of the crypto company, said that Alegre will bring his valuable experience in the world of entertainment, e-commerce and in the management of global strategic partnerships to drive the development of its gamified metaverse. 

According to Aronow, Alegre will use Bored Ape #3850 as his profile picture and will take up his role as Otherside's new CEO in mid-2023. 

South Korea opts for the Metaverse to strengthen its diplomatic relations with Vietnam 

📍‌South Korea's Gyeongbuk province is turning to the Metaverse to strengthen ties with Vietnam. Lee Cheol-woo, governor of the South Korean province, referred to the Metaverse as a tool to help expand and strengthen its relations with the Asian country. 

According to statements According to Cheol-woo during a visit to Vietnam, diplomatic relations between the two countries, which are celebrating their 30th anniversary, will be enriched by the valuable digital opportunities offered by the virtual world in the fourth industrial revolution. The governor of Gyeongbuk emphasized the creation of a new digital policy model focused on the metaverse that will help the region build new sustainable innovation zones, a metaverse-oriented testing environment, new standards and regulatory regimes, and much more; all this with the aim of leading the future and creating new jobs. 

Gyeongbuk was declared a Metaverse province in South Korea in February of this year. 

Whales continue to accumulate bitcoins

📍‌According to data from Santiment, Bitcoin whales continue to accumulate cryptocurrencies amid the bear market. Santiment revealed that last week, Bitcoin and Ethereum whales bought more than $1.200 billion worth of both cryptocurrencies. 

Bitcoin wallet addresses with balances between 100 and 10.000 BTC acquired $726 million worth of BTC in just 9 days, the crypto research and analytics platform revealed. Santiment also noted that earlier this month, Ethereum whales purchased about $561 million worth of ETH, the native cryptocurrency of the Ethereum network. 

Santiment analysts indicated that Whales have begun to accumulate and that, so far this month, 159 new whale addresses have been created in the crypto industry, which represents accelerated growth for this type of addresses in the last 10 months.
