Yuga Labs is now part of OMA3, seeking to expand efforts to improve interoperability and development of metaverses
Yuga Labs, the Web3 leader and home of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), CryptoPunks, Meebits, and 10KTF, today announced new strategic partnerships that will fuel the development of Otherside, Yuga Labs’ groundbreaking interoperable metaverse. With a bold vision and an innovative mindset, Yuga Labs has established technical and creative partnerships that have propelled the metaverse industry into new frontiers.
This vision will become a reality in Otherside, Yuga Labs’ renowned community-driven platform designed for virtual experiences across the web, 3D, and mobile, giving creators and players an active role in their creation and allowing them to be seen and heard in ways they can’t today. These global partners bring together the technical and creative expertise to enable real-time, cross-platform engagement to bring Otherside’s vision to life.
Among these partners are: Hadean, a space technology company, will be instrumental in building core simulation and high-density networking solutions, enabling high-fidelity virtual experiences that bring creators and players together at scale. AccelByte, a proven platform technology company, lends its highly scalable and extensible backend platform for live gaming services.
For its part, Bad Rhino Studios, who bring together their team of experienced game developers, designers, artists and engineers to help bring Otherside to life by enabling players to connect through dynamic, social virtual experiences, while Faraway will help develop engaging moment-to-moment gameplay.
From Hadean, for example, they applaud this step with this post on X:
And in light of this fusion of talent, Eric Reid, CEO of Otherside and employee of Yuga Labs, comments that:
A core goal of Otherside is to enable people to achieve their creative, experiential, and economic goals. The key to delivering a disruptive product of this scale is deep collaboration with creators and technologists. These top-tier companies are aligned with our vision of Otherside as an interoperable platform built with and serving our communities.
Betting on interoperability in metaverses
Yuga Labs has long believed that interoperability is the key to the future of the metaverse and is excited to explore the possibilities of Otherside as a board member of OMA3. OMA3 is a coalition of Web3 metaverse platform builders, which Yuga Labs has joined as a member and contributor.
While Yuga Labs was initially announced as a member of OMA3, it was later clarified that its inclusion had not yet been confirmed, and until now, such participation had not been officially announced. Now, with Yuga Labs participating as a contributor, OMA3 can focus on and expand the development of technologies and standards for the metaverse in a more active way, taking advantage of the arrival of one of the most important players in this sector.
With additional partners on board, Yuga Labs will continue to build Otherside in public, from demos to behind-the-scenes looks, and refine it with real-time feedback from creators and the community. Yuga Labs remains committed to ensuring Otherside is a true enabler of innovation, putting the power in the hands of creators and the community.
Thus, Yuga Labs’ impact on the metaverse industry has been significant. Their technical and creative partnerships have raised the bar for what is possible in the virtual world. They have proven that collaboration and knowledge sharing are critical to driving innovation and growth in the metaverse space.
Furthermore, Yuga Labs has set a precedent for other companies in the industry. They have proven that expanding metaverses is not just about developing advanced technology, but also about fostering strategic partnerships that enrich the metaverse ecosystem as a whole.
About Yuga Labs
Yuga Labs is a web3 company shaping the future through storytelling, experiences, and community. Guided by the belief that web3’s potential can be realized when we start with imagination, not limitations, Yuga Lab’s initiatives aim to reimagine what real-world utility looks like for NFTs and push the space as a whole forward.
Since launching in April 2021 with the flagship Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, they have made headlines for being one of the first companies to license intellectual property to their NFT holders. They have acquired and licensed the rights to other cutting-edge collections (CryptoPunks and Meebits) and made Web3 history by breaking the record for synchronized player participation in their most recent initiative, Otherside.
One of the most ambitious interactive metaverse projects to date, Otherside is built with the community, rebelling against the traditional walled gardens of gaming spaces. In March 2022, Yuga Labs raised a $450 million seed round and has since reached a valuation of $4.000 billion.
