An unknown entity has accumulated 118.300 bitcoins in the last 3 months

Now, the unknown entity has become the third-largest Bitcoin address worldwide. 

The world of cryptocurrencies never ceases to surprise. Although many dream of accumulating just 1 Bitcoin, something somewhat complicated since its price currently hovers around $26.000, an unknown entity has managed to do so. accumulate 118.300 BTC, worth over $3.090 billion at the time of writing this article.

The surprising thing about all this is that the unknown entity, which has become a whale by possessing that amount of bitcoins, has done so in just 3 months. 

On-chain data shows that the entity began accumulating bitcoins on May 8. On that day, the entity added 0,25 BTC (about $6.500) to its wallet. 

A week later, as shown by the Bit Infocharts platform, the entity added another 3.400 BTC (about $88,4 million) to the same Bitcoin wallet. Since then, the entity in question has done nothing but accumulate BTC.

On May 24, the new whale added the largest amount of bitcoins yet to his wallet, totaling 16.650 BTC. At the time, these bitcoins were valued at over $439,8 million USD. 

A well-known exchange or BlackRock?

Although it is unknown who owns the Bitcoin wallet that now holds a whopping 118.300 bitcoins, several rumors have emerged in the crypto community. theories thereon. 

One of the most significant is that it is BlackRock, the financial services giant that has changed its mind about Bitcoin and is now seeking approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch the first Bitcoin cash exchange-traded fund, or ETF, in the United States. 

Many believe that BlackRock has been accumulating bitcoins in the midst of a bear market. There are also those who consider it a possibility that the owner of the third largest Bitcoin address in the world is Fidelity Investments, another heavyweight in the financial industry and one that has quite positive perspectives on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. 

Another theory that cannot be ruled out is that it may be a cryptocurrency exchange that is reorganizing its BTC reserves to a new wallet. 

Regardless, the massive Bitcoin accumulation by this unknown entity, now the third-largest Bitcoin whale, has sparked quite a bit of interest and curiosity in the crypto community.
