Trump urges Congress to immediately pass the CLARITY Act for digital assets

US President Donald Trump again pressured Congress to approve the so-called CLARITY Act without further delay.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Donald Trump pointed to the banking system as one of the main obstacles to advancing the CLARITY Act, a proposal that seeks to establish clearer and stronger rules for the use of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets in the United States. The president urged Congress to act quickly and avoid further delays in the regulation, which he considers essential to solidifying his administration's plans to make the United States the crypto capital of the world.

Through his message, Trump made it clear that postponing the approval of the aforementioned law could open the door for rival economies, such as China's, to gain an advantage in the race to dominate the cryptocurrency market.

President Trump insisted that the CLARITY Act represents a key opportunity to consolidate American leadership within the global cryptocurrency landscape.

Trump accuses banks of hindering the crypto agenda

Talks between traditional banks and the crypto industry continue to set the tone in Washington, where the debate over stablecoin rewards continues to delay the Senate Banking Committee's review.

According to newsletter posted by Crypto in America This week, the informal March 1 deadline, set by Patrick Witt of the White House Cryptocurrency Council for the approval of the aforementioned law, passed without definitive agreements, although negotiations remain active between both parties.

Sources close to the debate say there is already a point of agreement: stablecoin balances will not generate direct interest for users. Even so, differences remain regarding reward programs, staking, and memberships that could be classified as financial returns under a different format.

On social media, Summer Mersinger, executive director of the Blockchain Association, emphasized that overcoming political differences requires constant commitment, reflecting the crypto sector's optimism regarding the negotiations. Similarly, Collin McCune, head of government affairs at Andreessen Horowitz, explained that both sides are increasingly close to a middle ground, a sign that, in legislative processes, often anticipates a possible agreement. Meanwhile, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency reinforced the banking sector's position with a proposed regulation within the GENIUS Act.Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins Act), which sets stricter limits for stablecoin-linked rewards.

The Senate redefines its agenda on the regulation of digital assets

Meanwhile, the Senate Banking Committee is considering new dates to review the bill between mid- and late March. This pause aims to resolve outstanding issues, such as the regulation of decentralized finance (DeFi) and codes of ethics in the cryptocurrency market.

Amanda Tuminelli, a lawyer for the DeFi Education Fund, commented to Crypto in America The discussion on DeFi has taken a backseat to the priority of defining stablecoin yields, although the sector is confident that the next draft of the bill will bring significant progress. Furthermore, a recent meeting of Democratic senators on the structure of the crypto market was considered "positive" by attendees.

From another front, Donald Trump said Truth Social reports that banks, despite posting record profits, are hindering both the GENIUS Act and the national crypto agenda. According to the president, the United States needs a market structure that allows citizens to generate more value with their digital assets.

Analysts closely following regulatory developments point out that the Senate Agriculture Committee completed its portion of the bill in January, but the legislative process remains stalled due to disagreements over stablecoin rewards. Banking sources added that they continue to actively participate in drafting the legislation and do not consider the March deadline binding.

The US wants to lead the future of cryptocurrencies

The CLARITY Act is shaping up to be a decisive step toward clearer regulation of digital assets. Trump has insisted that cooperation between the banking sector and the crypto ecosystem will be key to protecting consumers and fostering innovation. Although the White House has not issued any recent official comments, political signals suggest that the Senate could bring the proposal to a full vote in the coming weeks, provided the main disagreements can be resolved.

Along with Terrett, regulators and industry analysts agree that March could be the key month for the United States to align its positions and take a step forward towards a regulatory framework that consolidates it as a global leader in the adoption and innovation of cryptocurrencies.
