This weekend, former US President, Donald Trump, will be one of the speakers at the Bitcoin Conference 2024, which is being held in Nashville, Tennessee, from July 25 to 27. The largest gathering of Bitcoin enthusiasts and industry leaders, the event has generated considerable anticipation due to the participation of Trump, who will speak on the final day of the event, July 27.
Trump's participation in the conference marks a notable shift in his stance on cryptocurrencies. During his presidency, Trump had been vocal in his criticism of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, calling them volatile and based on "nothing." However, in recent months, Trump has taken a more favorable stance toward the crypto sector, even allowing cryptocurrency donations for his election campaign.
To Leif Ferreira, CEO and co-founder of Bit2Me, "You can't trust him completely. After all, let's not forget one thing. He's a politician and if he makes that kind of statement it's to drag down the more than 75 million people who are estimated to have Bitcoin in the United States, and this is not something that people don't know"
In his speech, Trump plans to highlight his Supporting the growth of the Bitcoin industry in the United States, advocating for financial freedom and proposing that more Bitcoin mining be carried out on American soil. This change of stance aligns with the Republican Party’s platform, which seeks to protect the right to personal custody of digital assets and oppose what they consider an unfair repression of the sector by the Biden administration.
According to Leif Ferreira, "there are enough objective reasons to believe that a Trump victory in the elections could catapult, even more, the price of bitcoin. Among many, I would highlight 6: Trump has publicly shown his support for Bitcoin; he has defended the right to self-custody; he wants to stop the advance of CBDCs; he has publicly announced that if he wins, significant changes will be made to the SEC and the Federal Reserve to be a very aligned and favorable country in the adoption of companies that develop activities linked to Bitcoin; the vice president he has chosen has already made pro-bitcoin statements, in fact he is a holder; and, to top it off, there are also rumors that he intends to support the dollar with a part of Bitcoin.
The conference will also feature other political figures such as independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, as well as prominent Bitcoin industry leaders such as Michael Saylor and Edward Snowden.
In short, Trump's presence at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville is a highly significant event that could influence both the Bitcoin industry and the American political landscape in the coming months.
