The blockchain developed by former Meta workers, Sui Network, is integrating Google, Facebook, and Twitch login into its DApps to simplify Web3 access and adoption.
Sui Network has launched a Web3 authentication solution aimed at making it easier for non-native crypto users to enter the new decentralized iteration of the Internet.
Called zkLogin, this new solution offers users the ability to authenticate to access and use their favorite decentralized applications (DApps) on Sui Network through their existing accounts on Google, Facebook, Twitch, and other third-party providers.
Greg Siourounis, CEO of Sui Foundation, highlighted that the launch of zkLogin marks an important milestone for the growth of the Web3 industry. According to Siourounis, this new authentication solution “removes a major obstacle to bringing the benefits of blockchain-based applications to billions of mainstream users.”
zkLogin simplifies Web3 login
zkLogin combines zero-knowledge (ZK) technology and the standardized JSON Web Tokens access token to allow users to authenticate their identities using the same social accounts as on the traditional web without having to reveal their credentials to access DApps.
Additionally, zkLogin allows users to access and interact with existing decentralized applications in the Sui Network ecosystem without having to install and configure a Web3 wallet or store private keys and manage seed phrases.
In this regard, Siourounis commented that, in this way, non-native users of cryptocurrencies and blockchain can join Web3 in a simple and secure way, maintaining their privacy and taking advantage of the ownership and advantages offered by the blockchain ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder of Web3 infrastructure platform Mysten Labs, praised the zkLogin solution as a tool to remove the complexity of Web3 access.
Abiodun highlighted that zkLogin applies a login pattern that is well-known, simple and effective for everyone, by making use of social authentication. With this, Sui Network is breaking the main barrier to entry to Web3 and opening the doors to millions of new users to connected experiences in the digital age.
How does zkLogin work?
zkLogin makes it easy to use social credentials such as Google, Facebook, and Twitch while leveraging zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs to ensure the privacy of user data.
As explained by the developers of Sui Network, this solution implements the Common Reference String (CRS) model to ensure user security and privacy. In addition, JSON Web Tokens are implemented to protect sensitive user data. Through this standard, it is possible to internally verify the provider's RSA signature and user information without having to reveal such information and without requiring users to manage mnemonics or complex passwords.
Sui Network went live last May, six months after the launch of its testnet. This blockchain is focused on scalability, to guarantee users the possibility of making fast transactions at very low costs.
