Bitcoin is “science, mathematics, logic and computer programming”
Wozniak believes that there are a significant number of cryptocurrency projects that are acceptable for forming an economically conservative investment strategy. However, he specified that Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that “it is mathematically pure gold”. In addition to praising Bitcoin's "mathematical purity," he noted that he is drawn to this digital asset because of its «science, mathematics, logic and computer programming». Bitcoin is a unique, transparent, immutable, efficient, programmable, and scarce asset; a combination of characteristics that could increase its value in the long term.
The host of Smart People Sh*tDennis Porter echoed Wozniak's words by comparing Bitcoin's efficiency to the US dollar. “Look at the US dollar, the government can just create new dollars and borrow; it’s like you never have it fixed, like Bitcoin.” However, the Apple co-founder indicated that although he believes in the future potential of Bitcoin, he has not yet invested in the cryptocurrency.
Wozniak also reiterated his interest in the Metaverse, declaring himself a fan of this technological innovation.
Interest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies
Mexican billionaire businessman Ricardo Salinas agrees with Wozniak's reasoning. Earlier last month, Salinas reiterated his support for the use and adoption of Bitcoin as an alternative investment asset to gold, highlighting the cryptocurrency's portability and transparency compared to the precious metal. US bank JP Morgan has also said investor interest in Bitcoin has been increasing in recent years, with it seen as a better alternative to gold.
In 2021, the largest investment fund in the world BlackRock he dumped his gold investments and began investing in Bitcoin-related companies, such as crypto mining companies Marathon Digital Holdings and Riot Blockchain, in whose shares he invested more than $380 million. Recently, Berkshire Hathaway sold part of its stakes in Visa and Mastercard to increase its exposure in Nubank, a Brazilian bank that allows investment in Bitcoin through an ETF (exchange-traded fund). The global auditing company KPMG Canada also made its entry into the world of cryptocurrencies, adding bitcoins and ethers directly to its balance sheet and investing in a non-fungible token or NFT from the “Worlds of Women” project.
