Solana Saga will be a powerful mobile phone that seeks to compete with terminals from major brands such as Samsung, Apple or Google.

Anatoly Yakovenko, one of the founders of Solana, has presented the first smartphone developed exclusively for Web3, called Saga. The aim of this smartphone is to offer users a unique and simple experience to access the blockchain, and enjoy Web 3 and NFTs.

The phone is being developed by Mobile Solana, Solana's subsidiary focused on creating mobile applications and terminals.

“There are nearly 7.000 billion people using mobile phones worldwide and more than 100 million users own digital assets. Both numbers are set to continue to grow. Saga creates a new standard for Web 3 experience on mobile,” Anatoly Yakovenko explained at the smartphone launch event.

What will Solana Saga be like?

As for the phone's construction, the exterior is made of stainless steel, titanium, ceramic and Victus, with a design that aims to compete with the main brands on the market such as Samsung, Apple or Google. In this sense, OSOM will be in charge of building the phones, a leading company in the development of Android hardware for brands such as Intel, Apple and Google.

The smartphone will include a 6,67” OLED display, a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform chip, 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.

The main camera has a resolution of 50 megapixels and a 12 megapixel sensor. The front camera will have a 481 megapixel Sony IMX16 array.

El Solana's goal and OSOM with the development of the device is to offer a unique experience. To do this, they have included a USB-C to C cable with a pin that allows data pins to be disconnected, to protect user privacy if the user connects to a public device or network.

On the other hand, the interior has a Android's own version, since it works on a Solana Mobile Stack (SMS). It is an open source framework, developed by Solana on Android that makes it easier for the user to access Web 3 and use digital wallets, as well as developing dApps on the Solana blockchain.

This means that Solana Labs is betting heavily on this smartphone, since it will not be a secondary terminal, but will have access to the Complete suite of Android and Google applications, allowing users to use it like any other smartphone.

Among the features that will be implemented, the so-called “Secure Element” stands out, with which private keys and seed phrases can be managed securely. The main characteristic of this feature is that it stores the information in a layer separate from the applications, which allows direct interaction, but prevents hackers from accessing the stored information.

The phone will be priced at $ 1.000 and, on their website, they have enabled pre-orders, for which the user will have to deposit 100 dollars to make the reservation. The purpose of the pre-order is to offer developers the opportunity to test the smartphone and its capabilities before it reaches the public.
