Browser extension wallet MetaMask is connecting its user base to the broader ecosystem of decentralized applications on Solana, the seventh-largest blockchain by market capitalization.
MetaMask recently announced the integration of Solana's vibrant and dynamic ecosystem of decentralized applications or DApps through the crypto wallet provider Solflare, based on this blockchain network.
According to the popular wallet, which offers a gateway to interact with DApps on Ethereum, its more than 30 million registered users worldwide will also be able to access existing decentralized applications in Solana's DeFi and Web3 ecosystem.

The integration of the Solana ecosystem occurs in the context of MetaMask Snaps, the new wallet functionality, which was launched in September and allows developers to create plugins or add-ons to connect the cryptowallet with other blockchain ecosystems beyond Ethereum.
MetaMask Snaps connects multiple blockchain ecosystems
In recent weeks, MetaMask has announced the integration of other DApp ecosystems such as Tezos, Near Protocol, Cosmos, among others.
Through MetaMask Snaps functionality, the browser extension crypto wallet gives users the flexibility to interact with various decentralized application and Web3 ecosystems, while expanding the capabilities of the crypto wallet itself.
This development has marked an important milestone in the crypto industry, allowing the connection of blockchains that operate different infrastructures and that were historically not compatible with each other. Even Bitcoin, the most robust blockchain in the crypto ecosystem, can connect to MetaMask through the Snaps feature.
In Solana’s case, MetaMask users will be able to explore and connect with the network’s DApps from the comfort and familiarity of MetaMask, allowing them to manage and exchange tokens, manage NFTs, check balances, and more in a unified manner from their existing MetaMask wallet.
