Saga's successor has surpassed its one-week sales target in just one day.
Demand for Chapter 2, the successor to Solana Mobile’s first blockchain smartphone, Saga, is experiencing unprecedented demand, racking up over 30.000 pre-orders at the time of writing.
Solana Mobile had set a sales target of 25.000 units of the new Web3 phone in a week. However, 30 hours after opening pre-orders to the public, the order volume for Saga Chapter 2 has exceeded all expectations.
Solana co-founder and Solana Mobile president Raj Gokal told TechCrunch in an interview that recent order numbers for this new Web3 device have already eclipsed the 12-month sales of Solana’s flagship blockchain phone, Saga, which launched last year.
Demand for the new Saga explodes
Mobile Solana detailed that its new blockchain smartphone will share similar features with its first device. However, Chapter 2 will be more affordably priced and will integrate a referral system that will allow owners to access referral links and a leaderboard to receive rewards and other gifts from the development teams of the projects that are part of Solana.
Saga Chapter 2 also will integrate a decentralized application store, from which users will be able to access applications and projects that interact in the Solana blockchain ecosystem, as well as the Seed Vault secure custody protocol for crypto assets, with which users can be safe when using and managing their digital assets on their mobile device.
Unlocking mass adoption of Web3
Gokal commented that Saga Chapter 2 is a smartphone designed to incentivize the use of Solana decentralized applications, so it represents a genuine opportunity for developers to incentivize user participation in their projects. As he explained, the phone will be available next year and is built based on the experiences and learnings gained by the team in the last two years. All this, with the aim of offering greater flexibility for developers and creating an innovative device, adapted to the needs of users in the Web3.
Through this mobile device, users will be able to more easily get started and access the world of blockchain technology and Web3, without the complexities that the crypto ecosystem in general entails.
“For developers, Solana Mobile is creating a huge opportunity for cryptocurrency app teams looking to incentivize their users,” manifested Gokal.
Bitcoin and cryptocurrency enthusiast and economist Alex Kruger said Saga Chapter 2 is seen as “a critical piece in the puzzle of mass adoption” of crypto assets.

While it's still too early to speculate on how successful Saga Chapter 2 will be, it seems that the experiences its creators will offer to owners of this Web3 phone have excited the crypto community, which hopes that the same magic of Saga will be recreated in Chapter 2, TechCrunch noted.
