Renault prepares its first NFT collection

Renault joins dozens of brands and companies that are seeing the potential of NFTs and are investing in this new technological innovation. 

French car manufacturer Renault is preparing to launch its first collection of NFT tokens, commemorating the 50th anniversary of its iconic R5 car model. 

On Twitter, the company announced that it is moving towards Web3 to transform its brand and create amazing new experiences to offer its users. 

Renault has created a new Twitter account called R3NLT, which is mainly focused on new technologies and Web3. The company has also opened a space on the Discord server to build its own NFT and Web3 community. 

Renault's first NFT collection will be called “GenR5” and will be composed of a total of 1.972 tokensThis crypto collection of non-fungible tokens will be launched on the market next Thursday, December 15. 

Renault bets on NFTs 

According to Renault, its first collection of NFTs is inspired by the four car models known as the R5. On Twitter, the company reported that the NFTs will be based on the R5 Electric, R5 Turbo, R5 Le Car Van and R5 TL cars. 

Each of Renault's NFTs will represent a 9-second animated video of one of the brand's four R5 car models. The company also reported that the NFTs inspired by the Renault 5 Electric, manufactured between 1972 and 1974, will be the rarest of the entire crypto collection. The number of NFTs available for each car model refers to the number of cars manufactured in the real world.

Renault's R5 has become the icon of an entire generation, so there is no better way to commemorate its 50th anniversary than with non-fungible tokens, which have given rise to a disruptive innovation that is revolutionizing the entire world.
