Polygon zkEVM is a solution designed to boost the scalability of the Ethereum network by implementing Zero Knowledge (ZK) technology.
The audit of the Polygon zkEVM code began this month. In their blog, the developers of the sidechain blockchain indicated that it is an extremely important procedure to evaluate the security of the new type of technology being developed and which aims to further scale the Ethereum network.
While Polygon Network is one of the main scalability solutions that exist for this blockchain, through Polygon zkEVM developers will be able to ensure a higher level of performance and speed for Ethereum transactions, while guaranteeing a technology to increase on-chain privacy in a reliable way.

Polygon zkEVM, a solution for scaling Ethereum
The companies Spearbit and Hexens are the ones that are Currently auditing the Polygon zkEVM scaling solution.
The first of these, Spearbit, is a decentralized organization of Web3 security researchers, which brings together the industry's top experts. On the other hand, Hexens is a security and consulting firm focused on new technologies, which has extensive experience in auditing ZK-based solutions, digital signature algorithms, and more.
These companies are auditing the Polygon zkEVM source code independently, which is an advantage for the project. Polygon developers commented that the results of both audits will make the zkEVM solution code more solid and robust. As they explained, the results of the Spearbit and Hexens audits will be compared with each other.
As reported by this outlet, the Polygon zkEVM testnet was launched in mid-October, with the implementation of the DeFi protocols Aave and Uniswap, and the crypto industry projects Lens Protocol and Midnight Society.
The Polygon zkEVM audits will continue until January next year, although the developers clarify that they could take “as long as necessary.”
What to expect from Polygon zkEVM?
Polygon Network developers are hoping to roll out a drastic zkEVM upgrade in the coming weeks.
In the blog, they explained that the upgrade to the scalability protocol will add recursion, an element that will help demonstrate the true performance capabilities of Polygon zkEVM. Likewise, recursion will allow zkEVM to start generating proofs of proofs and proofs of proofs of proofs. So far, this protocol has only been producing one proof per transaction, the developers explained.
Polygon zkEVM is the first ZK rollup that generates zero-knowledge proofs within an EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) equivalent environment in the blockchain ecosystem.
This protocol is being built to address the scalability issues facing the Ethereum mainnet, which have long put the blockchain at the center of debate, even now that it has migrated to the Proof of Stake consensus protocol.
Ethereum is the second most capitalized blockchain network in the industry, with a total market value of $ 155.400 million dollars, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
