Web3 developer Bored Ape, Yuga Labs, announced that the second test of its gamified metaverse Otherside will be available on March 25.
In this second test, Otherside will take users on a narrative and interactive gaming experience that will be led by Otherside's first team captains, Web3 said.
Otherside is a gamified metaverse developed by Yuga Labs combining MMORPG mechanics with Web3 technologies.
Through this virtual world, the company responsible for developing the Bored Ape Yacht Club crypto collection wants to offer players the chance to explore various worlds and live gamified experiences while turning their NFTs into playable characters and owning the game's assets.
Otherside will open its experience to 10.000 players
The first public test of Otherside took place in the middle of last year, when the company launched a technical demo. Through this, more than 4.000 holders of Otherdeed NFTs, which provide access to Otherside's virtual land, were able to connect on the platform.
Although this was a limited test, Otherdeed holders, known as “voyagers,” had the opportunity to interact with others as Yuga Labs evaluated the capacity and scalability of its gamified metaverse.
Now, for this second test, the Web3 company is opening Otherside to a wider audience.
On Twitter, Yuga Labs reported that holders of its NFTs can invite another person to join the second Otherside travel experience. However, the company clarified that it will support 10.000 users during this second test, so it is Otherside voyagers who will have priority access to the developing metaverse platform, while guests will not have guaranteed entry.
Meanwhile, Yuga Labs announced that it is expanding access to Otherside to players from all over the world. During the first test run of the blockchain metaverse, access was limited to certain supported areas.
A metaverse to connect all your projects
All projects developed under the Yuga Labs brand will be connected in the Otherside gamified metaverse. Wylie Aronow and Greg Solano, co-founders of Yuga Labs, told CoinDesk that Otherside is the intersection of all their NFT token collections.
Currently, Otherdeed NFTs are trading at a minimum price of 1,93 ETH on the Opensea marketplace. While Yuga Labs sold close to $300 million at Otherdeed’s launch, these NFTs tied to the virtual land of its Otherside metaverse have generated a trading volume of over $800 million today.
According to Opensea, the Otherdeed have moved 524.752 ETH in total volume.
