Orange Domains, a project to exploit Bitcoin's Web3 capabilities

Trust Machines is preparing to improve the connection of the DNS system with Bitcoin and Web3 through its new project, Orange Domains.

Blockchain development company Trust Machines has unveiled a new project called Orange Domains, with which it plans to expand the functionality of the Bitcoin Naming System (BNS), currently the most powerful blockchain network in the world.

The new project seeks to explore the Web3 capabilities of the blockchain, especially those related to the concept of digital identity.

In a release Recently, Trust Machines developers explained that through Orange Domains they will be able to expand Bitcoin’s capabilities and use cases, directly connecting the Internet’s domain name system, DNS, to the blockchain. As they explained, this will allow Bitcoin to expand its Web3 applications and link existing Web2 audiences to the decentralized web in a native way, bringing a new wave of innovation to the crypto ecosystem at large.

Trust Machines is developing its new project together with blockchain and Web3 technology-focused companies Tucows and Hiro Systems.

Web3 digital identities on the Bitcoin chain

Following the constant development and growth of the Bitcoin network, the new Trust Machines project is focused on extending the functionality of the Stacks-based Bitcoin Name System (BNS) protocol and developing new top-level domain (TLD) services, with the aim of bridging the gap between the traditional Domain Name System (DNS) and Web3 digital identities. Trust Machines will achieve this by utilizing the potential of the Bitcoin network, connecting the DNS system directly to the BNS protocol, which runs on the blockchain.

This will allow Web2 users to connect directly to blockchain-based decentralized applications without having to install any additional software.

All of this makes Orange Domains an important project that will remove barriers to accessing Web3 and simplify the user experience for all users who want to explore the potential of the Bitcoin ecosystem. As Trust Machines noted, its new project will also help accelerate the onboarding of new users to the decentralized web.

A single digital identity for everything

Orange Domains will provide users with a unique digital identity that they can use to “do everything” – literally. The blockchain development company highlighted that this digital identity will allow users to do different things, from creating a website to securing their digital assets, including artwork, smart contracts and more.

On the other hand, this digital identity, which will provide the domain solution on the Bitcoin blockchain, will act as an NFT token, the company explained.

Orange Domains joins the list of Web3 projects that are adopting the Bitcoin mainnet as their base layer. Alex Miller, CEO of Hiro Systems, one of Trust Machines’ partners, says that the new project is taking the next step forward in developing and expanding Bitcoin’s capabilities, “bringing together the sovereignty and power of a Bitcoin-owned identity with the universality of traditional domains.”
