Opera, the web browser that allows you to use cryptocurrencies from its native wallet, is making the leap to Web3 and integrating support for 8 blockchain networks. Among them: Bitcoin, Solana, Polygon, Ronin Network and Celo.

The creators of Opera, a Norwegian web browser that facilitates access to the world of cryptocurrencies, have announced the integration of the Bitcoin, Solana, Polygon, Ronin Network, Celo, Nervos, IXO and StarkWare networks into their platform.

The integration of these blockchains responds to the vision of the creators, to unlock access to the ecosystem of the cryptocurrencies, and Web3 to its more than 380 million users worldwide.

A browser for the future of the Web

In a releaseOpera says its efforts are aimed at accelerating the evolution of the next generation of the web. It notes that the new supported blockchains will significantly benefit its users by opening up access to the vast ecosystem of decentralized applications and protocols that are built within these networks.

Jorgen Arnesen, Executive Vice President and EVP Mobile at Opera, said the company’s goal is to continue connecting its active users with new technologies. “Since we started in the Web3 space in 2018, we have been sealing partnerships with Web3 domain name providers and blockchains… to accelerate the evolution of cryptocurrencies from proof of concept to mass adoption,” Arnesen said.

Earlier this year, Opera launched a beta version of its new and improved web browser, focused on the crypto industry. Called Crypto Browser ProjectOpera's new browser enables a number of features and functions to help its users enjoy a more complete user experience focused on Web3. Arnesen said that through this browser, the company wants to provide "a real benefit" to its community.

Crypto Browser Project integrates, in addition to support for decentralized applications (DApps) and a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet, the platform Crypto Corner, where users can deepen their knowledge about cryptocurrencies and blockchain, as well as learn about price data, events, and more about this industry and market.

Currently, browser users can interact with the new blockchains integrated from Opera Android. At the moment, Crypto Browser Project only offers support for the Polygon Network.

Polygon Network in Opera

For Opera, Polygon Network, the Ethereum-based second-layer scaling network, will help onboard millions of users to Web3 from its broad ecosystem. Polygon currently integrates over 7.000 DApps ranging from blockchain platforms to blockchain-based blockchains. metaverse to decentralized games, applications DeFi and projects NFT.

In addition to this, Polygon developers recently introduced a new private digital identity protocol that will be available in the third quarter, and that will help users enter the Web3 through trusted interactions, protecting their privacy.

A network 90% more efficient than Ethereum

Opera also highlights that Polygon is one of the most environmentally friendly blockchain networks, given that it implements proof of stake or proof of stake (PoS)

In this way, users can operate their assets more accessibly and efficiently. Currently, gas fees on the Ethereum mainnet exceed 100,000. $15,8, which has become a limitation for many users, especially when interacting with DApps.

Thanks to its protocol, minting NFTs on the Polygon network consumes much less energy than doing so on the Ethereum mainnet. In fact, Opera’s creators indicated that Polygon consumes only 0,00079 terawatts (TWh) of electricity per year, making it a 90% more energy-efficient blockchain network than the mainnet.

Solana, IXO, Ronin Network, Celo, Nervos and StarkWare networks are also focused on energy efficiency and carbon neutrality.
