Miley Cyrus patents her name and brand for the Metaverse

📍‌Singer and actress Miley Cyrus has filed a trademark application for the Metaverse with the USPTO. Trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis has announced that singer and actress Miley Cyrus, best known for her performance in Disney’s teen series Hannah Montana, has filed an application to register the trademarks “Miley” and “Miley Cyrus,” with which she plans to create new products, goods and services for the virtual world, such as clothing, footwear, handbags, jewelry, sports equipment and more. 

Cyrus is also registering a trademark to offer entertainment services in the Metaverse and create software for managing virtual currencies, among other things. 

The application for registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) was filed by Miley Cyrus' company, Smiley Miley Inc, in the middle of this month. 

Gordon Ramsay premieres “Hell's Kitchen” in The Sandbox

According to Press release shared by The SandboxITV Studios will build Ramsay's kitchen on the metaverse platform and launch a themed, interactive chef game. ITV Studios owns a virtual plot of land in The Sandbox, where Ramsay's kitchen is virtually built. 

Casa San Matías also arrives in the Metaverse

📍‌The Casa San Matías distillery, which produces one of Mexico's most famous tequilas, also made its way to The Sandbox. Casa San Matías is moving its first blue agave field into the virtual world The Sandbox, built on the Ethereum blockchain. The distillery has become Mexico's first tequila maker to enter the Metaverse, considered a developing exploration environment that is welcoming companies from all industries. 

Tequila maker San Matías purchased its first plot of virtual land in The Sandbox last month to develop new immersive experiences for users that allow them to share the tradition of typical tequila-making processes within the Web3 world.

DTCC adopts DLT to settle trades 

📍‌The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has launched the Project Ion platform to quickly settle transactions. In a press release this week, DTCC reported on the launch of its new Project Ion platform, designed to quickly settle transactions for its customers using distributed ledger technology or DLT. 

Project Ion is being developed as an alternative settlement platform that is capable of processing up to 160.000 equity transactions per day, offering a resilient, secure and scalable settlement service to its clients. All of this within a secure and reliable environment, he said. 

DTCC is a company that provides trading and settlement infrastructure and services for global financial markets. 

Nearly 3.000 billion aUSD burned on Acala Network 

📍‌The Acala Network community voted to burn nearly 3.000 billion aUSD tokens, the stablecoin issued by the protocol. After a week of mistakenly minting billions of aUSD tokens, the protocol's governance decided to burn most of these tokens, which have been traced to around 35 addresses identified so far. 

One of the founders of Acala Network, Bette Chen, published a Update on the status of Acala Network regarding the minting error. In this update, he indicated that 2.970 billion aUSD has been burned as a result of the emergency votes that the protocol called for its community. This leaves about 52 million aUSD tokens, of the 3.022 billion minted in error, to be tracked and recovered, Chen said.

The founder of Acala Network also indicated that the operations of the Polkadot-based protocol will not yet be fully resumed, as the developers are analyzing the situation of the liquidity pools affected by minting, among other things.
