MicroStrategy announces new private offering to buy $500 million in Bitcoin

MicroStrategy's voracious appetite for Bitcoin continues unabated as the company announces a new private offering to expand its corporate BTC holdings.

MicroStrategy's massive Bitcoin holdings are currently set to continue to grow, as the company recently announced a New $500 million private convertible notes offering, the proceeds from which will be used to finance the acquisition of more bitcoins.

MicroStrategy currently leads institutional investment in the cryptocurrency, holding the title of being the public company with the largest amount of Bitcoin in its corporate treasury.

The company’s latest BTC investment, announced by CEO Michael Saylor on March 10, brought its already massive Bitcoin holdings to a total of 205.000 BTC, which is valued at over $15.000 billion USD, based on the market price of Bitcoin at the time of writing.

A strong commitment to Bitcoin

The huge interest of MicroStrategy and its CEO, Michael Saylor, in Bitcoin is not unknown to many. Since 2020, Saylor has been highlighting the disruptive potential of Bitcoin at every opportunity presented to him. MicroStrategy's BTC holdings surpass $15.000 billion

As is almost customary, MicroStrategy announced that the proceeds generated by the convertible notes of its new private offering, of $500 million, will be invested in the Buy more Bitcoin.

The company's latest private offering, for $700 million, along with MicroStrategy's excess cash, served to finance the acquisition of 12.000 new bitcoins last week.

From his X account (formerly Twitter), Saylor announced that the $12.000 BTC were acquired at a price of $68.477 each; meaning that, to date, MicroStrategy has an unrealized gain of $56,43 million from these new bitcoins alone.

In total, MicroStrategy has invested $6.910 billion in Bitcoin. However, the 205.000 BTC it currently holds is worth over $15.000 billion, leaving the company with an unrealized gain of over $8.000 billion.

The price of Bitcoin is trading at around $73.180, at the time of writing. The market-leading cryptocurrency maintains a market cap of over $1,44 trillion and has corrected 0,90% from its current all-time high (ATH) price of $73.637, set on March 13.
