Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are coming to the Minecraft platform from Enjin and Microsoft Azure, in commemoration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated every February 11.

The blockchain of the technology giant, Microsoft Azure, and the gaming ecosystem in blockchain, Enjin, are bringing the potential of non-fungible tokens (NFT) to the popular construction game Minecraft from Enjin. The new NFT tokens compatible with the popular game are part of the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly to be celebrated every February 11.

Enjin reported, through a release press release, that NFT tokens can be acquired through Azure Space Mystery, an educational and interactive game developed by Microsoft that explores space and also advocates for the participation and collaboration of women in science and technology. Microsoft announced that the new game is part of its “Azure Mystery” series.

Knowledge from the hands of great European scientists

Within this gaming platform, participants will be able to enjoy great experiences, knowledge and live exciting adventures. The central theme of Azure Space Mystery is inspired by the International Space Station, which is in trouble and which players must save while learning and celebrating with prominent European scientists, such as Caroline Herschel, Mary Somerville, Hypatia y Raymond de Laroche, the world's first female pilot to receive a pilot's license.

In Azure Space Mystery, despite its simple interface, players will be able to complete tasks, advance through different levels and earn badges for their achievements, while also increasing their knowledge with the help of Europe's most renowned scientists.

The game itself is comprised of simple tasks that users will need to complete in order to progress within the game and demonstrate Enjin Beam’s casting functionality. For each completed mission or task within Azure Space Mystery, players will receive limited edition Learner Badger NFT tokens, which they can use to unlock a new mission or task within Minecraft’s MyMetaverse.

A unique art in NFT

As Enjin explains, the Learning NFT tokens will have an infinite supply, making them accessible to any of the players who embark on this adventure. However, players who complete their quests, and finish the game, will receive an Enjin Beam QR code that they must scan to receive one of the limited-edition Learner Badger NFT tokens. These tokens will only be received for participation within this game during the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and will feature unique custom art that will not be available again within the platform.

Also, as Enjin explains, the learning NFTs generated in-game are integrated with Minecraft, so users will be able to use them to access a sequel quest in Minecraft’s MyMetaverse network, joining other users in the next quest. This way, players will have the opportunity to complete the next quest and unlock more exclusive NFT collectibles in Minecraft; including the “XX & XY Certified Equal", which is a tokenized certificate that promotes equality of chromosomes and all genders.

NFT Badges and Recognitions

The partnership between Enjin and Microsoft, through the Azure Heroes program, leverages Enjin’s blockchain ecosystem to distribute exclusive NFT tokens as rewards to the Microsoft developer community, while increasing awareness and knowledge about NFT technology for businesses.

NFTs have become a fundamental piece in several industries. Currently, several use cases are being developed for these tokens, such as projects aimed at building autonomous and independent digital nations where “digital land” has an important economic value, as in Axie Infinity; and of course, digital art projects that are in high demand and interest in the markets, such as The Hashmasks, among others.

Microsoft uses NFT tokens to reward its best developers, awarding them with unique and unrepeatable digital badges on the blockchain, as verifiable and publicly visible rewards for doing a good job.

Sherry List Azure said that Enjin’s platform is driving the creation and development of innovative projects across the broader gaming and blockchain ecosystem it offers, and that the collaboration with this gaming blockchain has allowed Microsoft Azure to integrate cutting-edge technology to provide educational tools that help recognize the potential of the contributions of its developer communities around the world.
