Tech giants showcase new trends at CES 2023

📍‌Holoride, an Audi-backed company, is bringing the Metaverse experience to cars. Through the “Motorverse” experience, Holoride wants to connect people with their cars through virtual games.

The company, which is backed by premium carmaker Audi, is using virtual reality (VR), artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain platform MultiversX, formerly known as Elrond, to take users riding in the backseat of a car to a hyper-immersive virtual experience on the move.

The software Holoride unveiled at CES 2023 allows users to enjoy the virtual experience without nausea by matching the car’s actual movements during a ride with the movements users perceive within the virtual world. This is made possible by a technology stack designed by Holoride, which collects data on the car’s movement in real time, Holoride CEO Nils Wollny explained to CoinDesk.

📍‌BMW has unveiled its next-generation car, the “i Vision Dee”. BMW has unveiled the car of the future that will reinvent the human-machine relationship, as indicated by its CEO, Oliver Zipse, during the CES 2023 technology fair.

Zipse highlighted that the “i Vision Dee” prototype will integrate a digital soul, personality and facial expressions. In addition to this, one of the main features of this car will be its ability to transform its colors and patterns thanks to Dee’s E-Ink technology.

BMW's new car is also integrated with its Joytopia metaverse platform, inspired by the city of Las Vegas.

📍‌Other companies that were present at CES 2023 were LG and HTC. LG, one of South Korea's leading consumer technology companies, announced a partnership with Oorbit to bring virtual experiences from the Metaverse to its smart TVs. HTC, meanwhile, unveiled a new virtual reality headset, called Vive XR Elite, that will allow thousands of people to enter the Metaverse.

The HTC Vive XR Elite works similarly to the Meta Quest from Meta Platforms, formerly Facebook, and integrates a handheld controller and an RGB camera.

In addition to this virtual reality headset, HTC has already developed other products related to the virtual world, such as its Desire 22 smartphone, which integrates metaverse experiences along with a wallet for NFTs and the Exodus 1 and Exodus 1s smartphones, with the ability to run a full Bitcoin node.

Opensea welcomes Arbitrum Nova

📍‌Opensea joins Arbitrum Nova's Data Availability Committee (DAC). In September, Opensea announced the integration of Arbitrum One as the fifth blockchain supported in its ecosystem. Now, the developers of this NFT marketplace have announced their connection with Arbitrum Nova, Arbitrum’s new blockchain network with a focus on gaming and social applications.

On Twitter, Opensea informed its community that it has become a member of Arbitrum Nova’s Data Availability Committee (DAC).

On the other hand, the marketplace platform highlighted that Arbitrum Nova NFT collections will be available alongside other Arbitrum One NFT collections. Users will be able to sort NFTs and digital items based on the Nova network under the “Arbitrum” chain filter, in the designation “Arbitrum Nova,” Opensea explained.

UTA to turn Moonbirds into a global brand

📍‌The 10.000-NFT collection Moonbirds has signed a deal with talent agency United Talent Agency (UTA) to expand its brand. Moonbirds is one of the most successful NFT collections in the ecosystem. On Opensea, Moonbirds ranks as the 177.000th most traded crypto collection, with a total transaction volume of XNUMX ethers.

The contract recently signed by the developers of the crypto collection with the Hollywood talent agency will allow Moonbirds to expand its brand into different areas, such as entertainment, film, video games, publishing and more, to become a global NFT brand.

In addition to Moonbirds, other NFT projects such as Larva Labs, also had partnered with UTA to develop and expand its brand globally.

NFTs stolen from RTFKT executive

📍‌Nikhil Gopalani, COO of RTFKT, acquired by Nike in 2021, has lost his NFT collection in a phishing attack. Gopalani explained on Twitter that he was fooled by an attacker who used the same phone number as his Apple ID.

In the attack, Gopalani says who lost all of his NFT tokens, including 19 NFTs from the CloneX collection, which were valued at over $130.000, as well as other assets, such as 11 CryptoKicks, 19 RTFKT Animus Eggs, 17 Loot Pods, and 18 RTFKT Space Pods, which together are worth over $35.000.
