Meta, formerly Facebook, is launching monetization tools in its Horizon World metaverse, to bring creators and users closer to the new digital economy.

American technology and social media conglomerate Meta, formerly known as Facebook, announced the launch of new digital tools from its Horizon World virtual reality metaverse, to provide growth and monetization opportunities for its creators and users.

Although this is a test pilot, a group of Meta creators and users from the United States and Canada can now trade and sell digital items and experiences within the virtual reality worlds created in Horizon World.

Mark Zuckerberg's company is approaching cryptocurrencies again, after the dissolution of the Diem Association earlier this year. This association was responsible for promoting its Diem digital currency project, which had been in development for 3 years.

Now, three months after the closing of the partnership, Meta resumes its interest in cryptocurrencies. Through its Horizon World Metaverse platform, the company is offering digital experiences focused on commerce and monetization to its group of select creators and users.

At the end of the pilot, Meta will receive feedback on its new monetization tools and digital experiences.

Creator Coins in Horizon World

According to The Guardian, Meta is developing creator digital currencies to allow its select group of content creators to earn a living in Horizon World. Likewise, people and users, among those selected, will be able to use digital currencies with a commercial approach within their metaverse platform, for the purchase and sale of goods, services and digital experiences.

These digital currencies were dubbed by Meta staff as “Zuck bucks,” the British newspaper reported.

Meta noted in a statement that its vision is to provide access to a space and digital business model that works for creators, where they can enjoy different experiences and monetize their creations and content in a simple way.

In addition to its digital currency plans, Meta also announced the launch of a creator bonus program and the expansion of its Horizon World fund, to continue building its community.

Metaverse, global phenomenon

The Metaverse is being built as a virtual space where creators and users can experience new opportunities for growth and development. Despite being in an early stage, virtual worlds are currently a global phenomenon that has attracted the interest of dozens of brands, companies and artists from around the world.

In relation to its new digital tools, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, specified that, for thousands of incredible virtual worlds to exist, it is necessary that creators be able to sustain themselves within these spaces. He added that the metaverse must become the new workplace for creators, where they can monetize and generate income to earn a living.

These new monetization tools for creators are part of Meta's plans to reduce its dependence on advertising.

Creator Digital Currency Integration to Facebook and Instagram

After rolling out its new monetization tools in a pilot at Horizon World, they may be integrated into the company's Facebook and Instagram social media platforms.

The objective, according to Meta, is to bring creators and users closer to the new digital economy to build a solid and self-sufficient community.
