In a major step forward for the cryptocurrency world, Bit2Me has been chosen by Mastercard to be part of its new Crypto Credential service. This pioneering service will allow for secure and verified international transactions between different cryptocurrency exchanges.

Bit2Me is positioned as one of the first exchanges to complete live peer-to-peer pilot transactions through Crypto Credential, facilitating the verification of interactions between consumers and businesses using blockchain networks.

For the first time, cryptocurrency users will be able to send and receive digital assets using their Mastercard Crypto Credential aliases, replacing the usual long and complex blockchain addresses. Additionally, users in countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, France, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Uruguay will be able to make domestic and international transfers in multiple currencies and blockchains.

This development reflects Bit2Me and Mastercard’s shared commitment to promoting the adoption of digital assets and improving the user experience in cross-border transactions. Leif Ferreira, CEO and co-founder of Bit2Me, stated: “We are proud to continue deepening our partnership with Mastercard, with whom we share a commitment to innovation and the development of solutions that promote payment alternatives through cryptoassets.”

In addition, Mastercard and Bit2Me have established a strategic alliance that will allow users in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil to access the Bit2Me Card. This card, available physically or virtually through the Bit2Me App at no cost, will allow users to pay in more than 90 million merchants around the world that accept Mastercard, using any of the 15 cryptocurrencies available as a means of payment, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT.

The service, available in Spain since 2023 with more than 354.000 transactions made, also offers cashback on purchases paid with the card. In 2023 alone, users received more than 160.000 euros in cryptocurrencies. Currently, the service is in the final phase of development for Argentina and will be widely available in the coming months, making Argentina the first country in Latin America to exclusively have this product.

Pablo Casadío, Bit2Me co-founder and CFO, highlighted the importance of this expansion: “Latin America represents an enormous challenge and a great opportunity. Having the support of Mastercard, the undisputed leader in payments, is key to continuing to drive the crypto economy throughout the region.”

Walter Pimenta, Executive Vice President of Product and Engineering for Latin America and the Caribbean at Mastercard, said: “Mastercard continues to invest in its technology, standards and partnerships to bring safe, simple and secure payments to the forefront. As interest in blockchain and digital assets grows in Latin America and around the world, we are thrilled to expand our work with Bit2Me. Together, we are entering new markets and providing trusted and verifiable interactions on public blockchain networks.”
