The social network Instagram, from Meta Platforms, Inc., will add support for NFT collections from four of the most important blockchain networks in the crypto industry.
Instagram, one of the most popular social networks in the world, could launch a pilot for NFT integrations this week.
The news was announced by CoinDesk, noting that Meta Platforms Inc.'s social platform is preparing to allow a select group of users to access NFT collections available on blockchains such as Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and Flow, from its platform .
The four blockchains, which are among the most important for the development of these digital assets, bring together several of the most in-demand NFT collections in the crypto industry.
The social network Instagram will join Twitter as the next in allowing its users to verify and display their NFTs on their profiles. In addition, it will do so without charging a fee like Twitter did, which represents a competitive advantage over the latter platform.
Likewise, Instagram users will be able to connect their digital wallets, such as MetaMask, to the social network, to interact directly with their NFT tokens, although it is not yet clear if the platform will allow linking non-fungible tokens from the four blockchains supported from the first moment of the launch of its integrations pilot.

Instagram about to implement NFTs
For now, Instagram's NFT pilot will be available only to users selected by the company in the United States, according to sources.
With this pilot, Instagram seeks to experiment with this new class of digital assets. In mid-March, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, announced that the photo and video sharing social network would add support for NFTs in the coming months, in a move that could make this platform the largest NFT marketplace in the industry.
Instagram will allow its users to trade NFT tokens, as well as display them in their profile photos, tagging the artists and content creators who develop these assets. The authenticity and ownership of the non-fungible tokens based on the Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and Flow blockchains will also be verifiable on Instagram, the outlet reported.
New monetization opportunities
The integration of NFTs into the popular social network responds to the need to provide its creators with new experiences and opportunities to monetize their creations and content.
Like other platforms, such as YouTube and Spotify, Instagram is looking, through NFTs, for a way to help its users improve their relationship with their followers, allowing a closer and more direct interaction that helps increase their income. dynamic and without intermediaries.
Currently, Instagram has more than 1.470 billion active users around the world.
