NFTs will help raise awareness about breast cancer in Spain

NFTs help raise awareness about breast cancer

The Spanish Association for Metastatic Breast Cancer (AECMM) has launched a collection of NFT tokens that will help raise awareness about this disease.

Breast cancer, one of the most common diseases among women, affects thousands of people around the world. In Spain alone, more than 2.000 patients a year are treated for this disease, while in Europe the figure extends to more than 30.000 patients a year, according to data provided by the Spanish Association for Metastatic Breast Cancer (AECMM).

Since it is one of the most common diseases affecting women and, occasionally, also occurring in some men, AECMM wants to raise awareness about it, to help detect signs that allow for an early diagnosis and, also, to give a voice to patients and vindicate those who suffer from it.

To this end, AECMM has presented a collection of NFT tokens, entitled “The missing M”, which was created in collaboration with Spanish crypto artists Javier Arrés, Mercedes De Bellard, Lisa Odette and Óscar Llorens.

NFTs inspired by the experiences of patients with CMm

The collection of non-fungible tokens presented by the AECMM association on July 11 focuses on sharing the real experiences of people suffering from breast cancer, specifically metastatic breast cancer (MBC), which is when the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.

Spanish crypto artists were inspired by the true stories of 6 women and 2 men suffering from metastatic breast cancer to create the 8 NFT tokens that make up the AECMM “La M que queda” crypto collection.

Each of the women and men who inspired these NFTs experiences CMm from different perspectives, due to differences in age, environment and family experiences, friendships and the location of their metastases, the association indicated.

AECMM revealed that 30% of European patients diagnosed with breast cancer can develop metastasis over time, hence the importance of raising awareness about this disease.
