Ledger has created a browser extension, called “Ledger Connect,” that will allow hardware wallet users to easily connect to Web 3 applications, without having to go through third-party products or services that could be easier to hack.
The extension is in beta phase, so It will only be compatible with the Ledger Nano X model and with the mobile version of the Safari browser. At the same time, during the beta phase, the wallet can only be configured with the Solana and Ethereum networks, although it will be extended to the rest of the networks compatible with the brand's wallets once the final version of the extension is launched.
In the future, Ledger will enable an option that will automatically detect the blockchain you need to connect to. For example, if we connect to a DApp on Ethereum, it will automatically sync to our ETH address.
The browser extension will not have an option for asset management, so we will not be able to manage our cryptocurrency holdings directly from the browser. We will have to manage them from the Ledger Live application.
