Larry Fink, CEO of the world's largest investment fund manager, friendly to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, published a letter to shareholders revealing his vision on the opportunities that the digital asset space is offering. 

In her letter, Fink expressed that asset tokenization could drive efficiency in capital markets, shorten value chains, and improve cost and access for investors. Likewise, the CEO of BlackRock highlighted how cryptoassets are helping underdeveloped countries advance economically. 

Fink highlighted that countries with emerging economies, such as India, Brazil and parts of Africa, are making dramatic progress in optimizing digital payments. The developments taking place in the digital asset space are helping these countries reduce costs and advance financial inclusion. 

On the contrary, Fink notes, many developed countries and markets around the world, including the United States, are lagging behind in this innovation.

Europe approves the use of ZK in digital wallets

📍‌European Union parliamentarians have approved a bill focused on digital identity privacy. According to a report by The Block, a bill supported by MEP Romana Jerkovic proposes the inclusion of zero-knowledge (ZK) technology within digital wallets in order to protect and guarantee the security of the digital identity of the users. 

This bill was approved by the majority of MEPs, with 418 votes in favor, 103 votes against and 24 abstentions. 

MEP Jerkovic highlighted that the implementation of ZK technology will give European citizens more control and autonomy over their personal data and how it is handled. 

Ethereum's Shanghai successfully goes live on Goerli

📍‌Ethereum's next upgrade, Shanghai, is live on the Goerli testnet. Ethereum developers are in the final stretch in the race for Shanghai, the next Ethereum update that will allow its validators to withdraw their staking ethers from the Beacon Chain.

Shanghai implement successfully in Goerli last Wednesday. Although the developers had some difficulties at first, the deployment of the blockchain update on the testnet was completed, bringing the developers and the crypto community even closer to the expected staking withdrawals. 

Ethereum lead developer Tim Beiko said on his Twitter account that staking ether withdrawals are being processed on the testnet. Goerli is the latest stop for the Ethereum development team, which has now set a mid-April date to deploy Shanghai to the mainnet.
