The team, which is related to Lamborghini, will use NFTs to certify that the parts of its cars are authentic.

Vincenzo Sospiri Racing (VSR), a GT racing team supported by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, has announced its partnership with NFT platform Go2NFT to create a certification program for the mechanical parts used in its racing cars.

La NFT certification for car parts will be issued on the Skey Network blockchain and will be managed by Go2NFTThanks to these certificates of originality, the GT team will be able to control and guarantee that all the parts are of the highest quality and that they have not been manipulated at any time.

“This also comes with a huge responsibility, as it must ensure that we can securely authenticate and audit every part of our racing fleet to monitor performance and ensure provenance,” said GT champion Vicenzo Sospiri, team principal.

On the other hand, VSR also wants Expand the NFT certification program to official merchandising and other team products, which could provide greater confidence to users when purchasing products related to the brand.

Go2NFT mentions that the development team understands the challenges that brands face when it comes to protecting their intellectual property and is convinced that NFTs can be an excellent solution to these types of problems.

“We believe that the utility of NFTs can help create more trust and transparency for brands and their fans. This project with VSR is just the beginning of many such cooperations for well-known brands around the world,” said Boris Ejsymont, CEO of Go2NFT.

NFTs and the automotive industry

Beyond VSR and Go2NFT’s solution for certifying automotive parts, NFTs have begun to be implemented in the automotive industry.

Alfa Romeo has implemented blockchain in its new Tonale models. This technology, which the brand has called “blockchain card”, will be a kind of immutable and confidential registry in which all the stages of a car's life are recorded.

La Information is recorded in an NFT and this generates a certificate which is used as a guarantee of the general condition of the vehicle, which will have a decisive impact on its value in the event of a secondary sale.

High-end brands, such as Porsche, have put on sale original sketches of their designs in NFTOthers, such as the Spanish supercar manufacturer, Hispano Suiza, have marketed 12 units of a special model, Carmen, through an NFT sales platform.

Beyond car brands, NFTs have also been rapidly introduced into the world of Formula 1. In 2021, McLaren created the McLaren Racing Collective project which consists of a series of NFTs that represent the different pieces of the iconic MCL1M Formula 35 car that users can collect to assemble their own virtual car.
