The crypto community will meet in Latin America this year

Two major blockchain ecosystems, Ethereum and Polkadot, will host their annual events and bring together the crypto community in the emerging Latin American market this year. Polkadot Decoded 2022 and Devcon 2022 in Latin America

📍‌Latin America chosen to host two of the most important events for the crypto community this year. Polkadot Decoded 2022 and Devcon 2022, two global events in the crypto industry, will take place this year in the cities of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Bogotá (Colombia), respectively. 

Polkadot Decoded 2022 Polkadot is the largest annual conference held by the Polkadot crypto community, focused on exploring everything related to this powerful blockchain ecosystem. The third edition of this conference will be held on June 29 and 30 of this year. 

On the other hand, Devcon 2022, organized by the Ethereum Foundation, is an annual event that brings together thousands of Ethereum developers, researchers, creators, and users from around the world. This year’s Devcon event will take place in the Colombian capital, Bogotá, from October 11-14, with an agenda of meetings and conferences dedicated to exploring the potential of the Ethereum ecosystem, to expose, promote, and incentivize the implementation of its many use cases and real-world applications. 

Both events emphasize promoting the decentralized spirit of the blockchain industry.

NFTs are coming to Instagram stories

📍‌Some Meta creators can already try out NFTs on their Instagram stories. For now, the trial is available to a limited group of creators in the United States. Meta, the company behind the social networks Facebook and Instagram, said it is expanding the trial to include creators in the United States. NFT testing to advance its plan to bring creators closer to the new digital economy. 

Some of the most popular Meta creators who are already sharing NFTs on their Instagram stories include @nylacollection_nft, @amber_vittoria and @bossbeautiesnft, the metaverse company said Wednesday. 

Meta also noted that it will soon begin testing NFTs in Facebook Stories via its SparkAR virtual reality platform, to offer new ways to experiment with these digital assets. The company also has plans to expand NFT testing to more Facebook and Instagram creators, in more countries around the world, in the coming months.

Core, Avalanche's new browser extension

📍‌Avalanche has launched a web extension wallet to facilitate access to Web3. Avalanche’s new web-based wallet, Core, allows users to easily swap tokens, access and manage NFTs, and more, easing users’ onboarding to the next evolution of the internet, Web3.  

In addition to this, Core also makes it easier for users to transfer Bitcoin using the same technology that powers Avalanche Bridge, Ava Labs developers explained in a post shared on Twitter. 

Ethereum will maintain only two testnets after the merger

📍‌Ethereum's Ropsten, Rinkeby, and Kiln to Shut Down After The Merge The actual merger between Ethereum and Ethereum 2.0, The Merge, will end the development of Ethereum's Ropsten, Rinkeby, and Kiln testnets. 

The blockchain developers explained that due to the difficulty of running nodes on these testnets and due to the difficulty of keeping these nodes active, the mentioned testnets will be closed after the merger. Since last year, Ethereum has closed two testnets: Pyrmont and Kovan. 

According to the developers' post, only two of the currently existing testnets, Goerli and Sepolia, will remain active in the Ethereum ecosystem after Merge.  

1confirmation opens fund for NFTs

📍‌1confirmation launches $100 million investment fund for NFT collections. The venture capital firm has launched a new investment fund, called NFT Fund, which will focus on two major NFT collections, CryptoPunks and Nouns. 

Through this fund, 1confirmation will allow its investors to gain exposure to the long-term potential of NFTs. 

The FED and cryptocurrencies

📍‌The US Federal Reserve is keeping an eye on the cryptocurrency market. Federal Reserve (FED) Chairman Jerome Powell said in a The hearing monetary policy before the House Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, that the central bank is keeping an eye on the outcome of cryptocurrencies, amid the high volatility that the industry is currently experiencing. 

According to Powell, although cryptocurrencies are going through a delicate moment, he is currently “not seeing significant macroeconomic implications.” However, the FED president took the opportunity to highlight, once again, the need to create a regulatory framework that guarantees the protection of investors and participants.
