Polkadot co-founder and lead developer Gavin Good announced that parachain auctions on the Kusama testnet are about to begin. 

Gavin Good published a release recent to report that the auction process for the parachains de Kusama is about to begin. According to the co-founder and developer of Polkadot, auctions for spaces or shares for developers to implement their own parachains within the test network could begin on June 15. 

The process is currently awaiting approval from the Kusama Council, and once this occurs, auctions will formally begin. Good noted that the testnet is ready for parachains, as there are no known technical barriers or obstacles that continue to delay auctions of network space for the implementation of parachains, nor are there any issues with this functionality. 

The developer published an activation schedule for the auctions that tentatively begins on June 15 and ends on July 20. According to this schedule, a total of 5 auctions will be held, each lasting 1 week, enough time for projects and protocols interested in developing on Kusama to earn a privileged place within the network with their best offer. 

In the auction process, several well-known projects and protocols are expected to participate, such as: Acala Network, darwinia, Equilibrium, HydraDX, Karura Network, Robonomics y Moonbeam

Auction of space for parachains

Polkadot parachains are the equivalent of a sidechain or sidechain en block chains , the Bitcoin o EthereumThese blockchains are created with the aim of providing effective solutions to any need or situation that may arise, in the opinion of the developers or the crypto community, being completely independent of the main network. However, their design allows them to be compatible with each other and with the Polkadot network, guaranteeing a rich and interoperable ecosystem. 

On Kusama, Polkadot's testbed, parachains have virtually the same functionalities, serving specific solutions based on their design. This way, parachain developers can come up with and build any decentralized application they want, fulfilling specific functionalities. However, on Kusama, deployment space is limited to an average of 100 parachains initially, so projects must stake their claim to a spot. 

The permissionless auction allows all interested parties to qualify for a building space within Kusama in a fair, clean and balanced manner. The winning projects of the 5 auctions will be able to run their parachains on the network, adding them to the Kusama Relay Chain and integrating their functionality as part of the testnet.

Good said that after this round of auctions, the development team will take a break to evaluate the performance and efficiency of the parachains and the Kusama network in general. They will then publish the next round of auctions. 

Kusama deployments help developers test and fix protocols and implementations before they arrive on the Polkadot mainnet.

Gavin Good explained that the arrival of the auctions of spaces for the Kusama parachains are possible thanks to the implementation of Statemine, the evolution of Shell, which enables a number of new functionalities on the network. 

Statemine is the first real-world functional parachain that enables the creation, maintenance, and transfer of fungible and non-fungible tokens such as NFT, as well as allowing transactions to occur at a very low cost. To date, Statemine is being audited by the firm SR Labs, Good said, to detect and correct any faults or errors present.
