Judge Mellor delivers his written judgment in the COPA vs Craig Wright case: “He is not as clever as he thinks he is”

British judge James Mellor has just issued the written verdict in the case of the COPA alliance against the self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto, Craig Wright.

In his written judgment, Judge Mellor noted that Craig Wright presents himself as a fairly intelligent person who supposedly created Bitcoin. However, in his judgment, he noted that Wright is not as intelligent as he thinks he is and that all the testimony and evidence he falsified in his quest to proclaim himself the creator of Bitcoin constituted one of the most serious abuses of the court and judicial proceedings.

The COPA alliance, backed by MicroStrategy and Block Inc, celebrated the crypto community's latest victory on social media.

“Today’s ruling is the result of a concerted and united effort by the entire open source community, from developers to those who selflessly contributed to funding this important case, through to all COPA members.”, expressed the alliance, stressing that the British judge's ruling carefully dissects the entire web of lies that Wright fabricated in order to deceive the cryptocurrency community and justice.

Craig Wright's lie is revealed

After declaring that Wright was neither the author of the Bitcoin whitepaper nor the creator of the cryptocurrency, Judge Mellor turned his attention to demolishing the tangled web of forgeries and lies the businessman fabricated about being Satoshi Nakamoto.

The judge stressed that he was convinced that all of the information Wright presented in his statements, testimony and evidence during the trial was falsified on a massive scale. He also noted that he believes Wright was personally responsible for the creation of each of the falsifications presented in the case, that he deliberately lied to the Court and that he tried to use the Court as a vehicle for fraud.

“Wright did not understand the basics of Bitcoin technology”, Judge Mellor said. “He is not as intelligent as he thinks he is. Both in his written testimony and in the days of oral evidence in cross-examination I am completely convinced that Dr Wright lied to the Court extensively and repeatedly…”.

Wright lost his legal battle against COPA in mid-March, when Judge Mellor ruled that the businessman had committed fraud on an industrial scale by trying to claim copyright and intellectual property rights to technology that does not belong to him.

In this ruling, the judge ruled that:

“Dr. Wright is not the author of the Bitcoin White Paper. Dr. Wright is not the person who adopted or operated under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto from 2008 to 2011. Dr. Wright is not the person who created the Bitcoin System. Dr. Wright is not the author of the initial versions of the Bitcoin software.”.
