Decentralized network for the Internet of Things, IOTA, launches new decentralized instant messaging service via IOTA's Tangle.

IOTA's new messaging service, called SecretsSecrets is a service designed to give users back control over their digital identity and messages, thanks to decentralization. The secure messaging app allows you to create a digital identity and send encrypted messages to and from other people. With Secrets, you can send private messages individually or create messaging groups to communicate with as many people as you want or need. In addition, according to the information published on its official website, Secrets allows you to send encrypted messages without having to download software or register accounts, making it easy for anyone to access this service.

“It is unique in that each participant creates and uses an identity that is stored on their own device.”

Secrets is powered on the decentralized platform SOCIETY2, designed by IOTA as a social media platform, which in turn is based on the network TangleWith its innovations, IOTA aims to give users back power and control over their own data. The new messaging service can be used directly from an Internet browser or installed as a progressive web application, the platform reports.

Secure and reliable digital identity

IOTA is an open, decentralized, and free data and value transfer protocol designed to bring a transformative shift to blockchain technology. blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT), which ensures the management of secure transactions within the well-known digital economy of the Internet of Things (Internet of Things – IoT). This protocol allows value and data exchanges to be carried out in a secure and reliable manner, without any charges.

The tools offered by this decentralized network are designed to allow users to create their own digital identities in an individual and secure way, making it possible to store personal data, communicate with friends, create content and make digital payments. With SOCIETY2 and Secrets, IOTA is building a framework focused on user privacy, respecting their identity and allowing messaging, file storage, content creation and payments in a secure, reliable and free way.

A competition for Facebook

The new services promoted by IOTA, with its Secrets messaging service, guarantee users absolute privacy and confidentiality regarding their messages and conversations, since it does not store or record any type of data, unlike the social media giant: Facebook. This platform, known worldwide, and with more than 2 billion users, has been the subject of accusations and complaints based on its lack of respect for privacy and security. In fact, in that medium we have informed about Facebook's frequent data and information leaks, and the regulators' refusal to approve this giant to launch its project stablecoin Libra, due to these inconsistencies and weaknesses.

Thus, the various data privacy scandals of Facebook, and other corporations such as Apple, make IOTA messaging services very attractive for those who defend their right to privacy and their data. Secrets is presented as a viable and effective alternative to prevent these companies from continuing to profit from multimillion-dollar revenues from the data business on the Internet.

“Unlike previous messaging apps, Secrets puts you in control of your identity. There is no registration form. There is no account. You own your identity and it is stored on your device. This means that the responsibility for security and retaining access to your identity is yours.”

IOTA co-founder, Dominik Schiener, notes that users and consumers should think carefully about whether they will continue to use messaging services that exploit their data, or whether they will opt for decentralized services that guarantee their rights and respond to their needs.

An easy-to-use service

IOTA presents a complete guide for those who have never used its Secrets services. The developers of this service report that it is a very easy-to-use platform. Users only have to enter the digital application, and there create their identity in simple steps. Once users have their digital identity, they can start creating their chats with friends, individually or in groups, and add as many people as they want.

Adding friends to chat groups is also very easy and simple, as they can do so by scanning a QR code in person or sending it via email. Secrets is the first messaging product created by IOTA, and it aims to become a fully decentralized network at the service of its users.
