Instagram adds support for Flow network NFTs

Instagram, the social network with more than 1.200 billion monthly active users, has added support for NFTs on the Flow blockchain.

Meta has launched its plan to create new forms of monetization for content creators and artists on its social networks.

The technology and social media conglomerate, which wants to conquer the metaverse, has announced the integration of NFT tokens to its social platform Instagram, which brings together more than 1.200 billion monthly active users (MAU), according to the data from Statista.

The company shared a post in which it reports that creators on the social network can now monetize their content through NFTs. On Instagram, its users can upload and share art, images, videos, music, and collectible cards as non-fungible tokens (NFT).

At the moment, the social network supports NFT tokens minted on the Flow blockchain. Additionally, the functionality is limited to select American content creators and collectors, who will be able to share NFTs they have created or purchased on the platform.

The company noted that the technology blockchain and NFTs help their creators unlock and access more monetization opportunities, while also being able to take more control over their work and their relationship with fans through these digital assets.

In addition to this, Meta also indicated that their plan is to bring NFTs to a wider audience; something coherent considering the massive user base that the company maintains on Instagram globally.

How to show NFTs on Instagram?

The new NFT functionality that Meta has added to Instagram allows the social network's creators to upload NFTs in a simple way, similar to uploading an image or video on the platform.

In his post, Meta explains that creators can connect their digital wallet and choose which NFTs they want to share on Instagram. She can also add a description about the NFT, while tagging the creator or collector of the NFT will happen automatically on the platform. This is possible thanks to public information on the blockchain, she explained.
