France's Cryptoasset Institute opens in Courbevoie, outside Paris

In France, the Pôle Léonard de Vinci recently launched the Crypto-Assets Institute, a place that will foster pioneering research to explore the potential of the Web3 industry, including cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, and to demystify existing myths and misconceptions about the digital industry.

France's Crypto-Assets Institute, which opened last week outside Paris, promises to be an open and impartial space for discussion about crypto industry innovation and Web3 technologies.

The French university group Pôle Léonard de Vinci, behind this pioneering initiative, considers the cryptocurrency and blockchain sector a promising and exciting space, which is transforming finance and has the potential to shape the digital future.

During the opening ceremony, Cyril Grunspan, director of the Cryptoassets Institute, was present, along with historian and Bitcoin expert Jacques Favier and cryptographer David Pointcheval, who led the two conferences focused on the revolution caused by the arrival of Bitcoin and blockchain technology and how the crypto sector has been evolving in recent years, integrating innovative technologies such as zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs, to reinforce security and privacy.

France wants to lead crypto assets in Europe

The inauguration of the Crypto-Assets Institute, the first of its kind in France, took place just a few days after the Pôle Léonard de Vinci unveiled the Institute of Future Technologies in March this year.

Broadly speaking, the new Cryptoassets Institute will be led by 11 faculty and researchers who are experts in different areas, including emerging technologies and Web3.

Ledger co-founder Nicolas Bacca and six other prominent figures from the digital asset industry are also part of the new French institute. This is aimed at encouraging education, knowledge transfer and teaching about the disruption of cryptocurrencies and the blockchain ecosystem.

With the inauguration of this new institute focused on cryptoassets, both the Pôle Léonard de Vinci university group and the country are expanding their immersion in the cryptocurrency sector and new Web3 technologies.

France has emerged as one of the world's leading jurisdictions in relation to cryptoassets and blockchain, exploring various blockchain use cases, collaborating in the development of the digital euro and advancing the construction and establishment of a Clear regulatory regime for cryptoassets, which harmonizes with the European law on cryptocurrency markets, called MiCA, to regulate digital asset service providers in a responsible and appropriate manner.
