HKPhil, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, is coming to The Sandbox

The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, HKPhil, will present the world's first symphonic masterpiece in the metaverse at The Sandbox.

The symphonic work, titled The Metaverse Symphony, is a work by the well-known composer of Chinese origin Elliot Leung.

The concert is organized by HKPhil, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Web3 company Artifact Labs, who have teamed up with The Sandbox to immerse their viewers and fans in a new, fully immersive Web3 orchestral experience.

The Metaverse Symphony will be the world's first symphonic masterpiece to be presented on the blockchain metaverse. The presentation of this symphonic masterpiece will take place jointly live, in the city of Hong Kong and virtually on the metaverse platform The Sandbox, in May next year.

The HKPhil Professional Orchestra at The Sandbox

HKPhil became Hong Kong's first professional orchestra in 1974. Today, this philharmonic orchestra is a partner of the Hong Kong Cultural Center and performs about 140 performances a year, including “Symphony Under the Stars,” the open-air symphony concert largest in Hong Kong, which brought together more than 12.000 people and participants this year.

In recent years, HKPhil has made several world tours, performing in countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany and Austria, among others.

Now it is preparing for a new debut in the virtual world of The Sandbox, one of the most popular blockchain-based metaverses in the crypto world. The Sandbox is built on the Ethereum network, the largest blockchain for the development of smart contracts and DApps.

A historic concert in the virtual world

Speaking about The Metaverse Symphony's presentation at The Sandbox, Artifact Labs CEO Gary Liu, he highlighted which is a historic alliance between your company and the metaverse blockchain platform to offer your viewers new and innovative immersive experiences, while at the same time being able to demonstrate all the possibilities and opportunities that the metaverse and Web3 can offer to bring music to a broader audience.

The Sandbox will allow thousands of people from all over the world to enjoy the Philharmonic concert through an internet connection.

On the other hand, Artifact Labs, which is an official partner of Elliot Leung and the Philharmonic, is recreating Hong Kong's iconic Statue Plaza as a multi-use digital space with which it seeks to show the limitless possibilities that music offers in the metaverse.
