Internet giant Google Cloud, the cloud computing service, has created a new working group focused on blockchain development and digital assets.
Google Cloud, the cloud computing service from Google, now Alphabet Inc., plans to play a major role in the evolution and innovation that blockchain technology represents, to build and deploy the applications of tomorrow.
In a releaseGoogle Cloud's Vice President of Financial Services, Yolande Piazza, explained that Google Cloud will help its customers and companies create next-generation ecosystems and applications based on blockchain technology. To do so, the company has created a new working group that will focus on the development of this technology, as well as on digital assets. According to what was explained, Google Cloud will empower its customers through short- and long-term initiatives based on the blockchain, which will guarantee developers access to greater speed, flexibility, security and scalability, to build more efficient and highly innovative products.
With the Digital Assets Task Force, Google aims to drive the growth of its clients within the blockchain space, making them global leaders in innovation and cutting-edge solutions.

Google Cloud and Blockchain
As blockchain technology becomes more widespread, Google Cloud explains, companies need a scalable, secure, and sustainable infrastructure on which to grow their businesses and support their networks. Google Cloud wants to meet these needs by undertaking new blockchain-based initiatives to support companies within the digital ecosystem.
“We believe that Google Cloud can play an important role in this evolution.”
As noted on his Twitter account, the new initiatives, which include node validation, governance, and possibly cryptocurrencies, will be aimed at all of its clients, including those implementing blockchain-focused strategies and those blockchain-native companies, such as exchanges, cryptocurrency service providers and decentralized platforms.
Cryptocurrency payments and transaction history
Regarding cryptocurrency payments, the company explained that, in the future, it could offer its Google Cloud customers the possibility of receiving payments with crypto assets. Google also plans to offer, from its cloud services infrastructure, access to the complete transaction history of several of the main cryptocurrencies on the market, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Dash, Litecoin, Zcash, Theta Network, Hedera Hashgraph, Band protocol, Polygon, Ripple y Dogecoin.
Google Cloud already has several clients in the crypto industry, such as Hedera, developer of the distributed ledger technology Hereda Hashgraph, Theta Labs, creator of the Theta Network blockchain streaming network and THETA cryptocurrency and Dapper labs, developer of the Flow scalability blockchain and major projects NFT, like CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shop.
Innovation, efficiency and sustainability
The development of blockchain is analogous to that of open source and the Internet 10 or 15 years ago, Google Cloud said, noting that blockchain and crypto assets are transforming the way the world stores and moves its information and creates value. Therefore, its new working group will be focused on taking advantage of the opportunities that this new and emerging technology can offer to meet the needs of its clients, while also wanting to turn its Google Cloud cloud service into the connective tissue that links companies in the traditional world with blockchain.
As explained, its customers will be able to benefit from Google's world-class, clean and highly sustainable development platform, as well as the technologies and solutions it secures through its cloud platform. Through blockchain, Google Cloud's infrastructure will guarantee developers a safe space where data, applications, games and digital assets, including NFTs, can be delivered quickly and reliably, through a stable and highly efficient and sustainable global network, Piazza noted.
Google Cloud's parent company has important alliances in the cryptocurrency industry, in its search to increase and strengthen its presence within this disruptive and flourishing technological sector.
