During the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, the international organization revealed its plans to launch a metaverse platform this year, which will be focused on the consumer and on offering spaces for holding meetings, workshops and more. 

The international organization presented a first prototype of its future platform, called “Global Collaboration Village” together with Microsoft and Accenture, which allows organizations to meet to discuss various topics and design solutions to address the world's most important problems. 

Brad Smith, vice president and president of Microsoft Corporation, highlighted how the metaverse is transforming the way we communicate and interact. Global Collaboration Village is an example of how metaverse innovation is creating new channels to bring people and communities together around the world, Smith said. 

KB Home comes to the decentralized metaverse Decentraland

📍‌Construction company KB Home has launched an experience on Decentraland. KB Home is taking its construction and design tools into the Metaverse. In a statement, the American home construction company informed its customers that they can now enjoy a immersive home building experience through the Decentraland decentralized metaverse platform, based on the Ethereum blockchain. 

The goal of KB Home is to create the first community of builders in the Metaverse, allowing users of this platform to use different tools and design options to build and personalize their homes in the virtual world. 

Another Bitcoin block is solved alone

📍‌A solo miner has solved block #772.793, with only 10 TH/s of network power. Currently, Bitcoin's hash rate reaches 306,8 exahashes per second (EH/s), according to data from the Coinwarz platform. However, one miner needed only 10 TH/s of power to mine block #772.793 and claim the current reward of 6,25 BTC along with the commission fees that network users paid to confirm their transactions in that block. 

Decrypt's Max Koopsen commented that the computing power the solo miner used to solve the Bitcoin block represented just 0,000000037% of the total hash power that Bitcoin has today. 

Although the chances of solving a solo Bitcoin block with such low computing power is almost unlikely, At least four similar cases occurred last year, with solo miners who managed to mine new blocks and keep the BTC rewards. 

National Australia Bank builds blockchain-based solution

📍‌National Australia Bank (NAB), one of Australia's largest banking institutions, will use blockchain to build a carbon credit market. According to Ledger Insights, Australia's national bank, NAB, plans to provide its clients by mid-year with a new solution from which they will be able to exchange carbon credits transparently thanks to blockchain. 

The Australian bank also has plans to create a platform for making payments abroad, the outlet reported. In mid-December, National Australia Bank minted a digital stablecoin using the Ethereum blockchain. 

Howard Silby, director of innovation at NAB, said that blockchain technology is made up of elements that will certainly “be part of the future of finance.” 

Bison Digital Assets launches into the crypto market

📍‌Bison Digital Assets has launched new cryptocurrency trading and custody services. In partnership with Sygnum Bank, bank-owned virtual asset platform Bison Digital Assets has launched new services for cryptocurrency custody and trading for its clients. In a statement, Sygnum Bank reported that Bison Bank's cryptocurrency and digital assets subsidiary is offering its clients the possibility of trading the main cryptocurrencies on the market, Bitcoin and Ethereum. 

In addition to trading, Bison Digital Assets clients will also be able to hold and manage BTC and ETH within the platform.  

Roblox will launch on Meta Quest

📍‌According to The Verge, Roblox could launch on Meta Platforms' Quest devices by the middle of this year. Roblox is one of the largest non-blockchain metaverses in the world, with over 200 million registered users worldwide. This platform could rival Meta's metaverse plans with Horizon Worlds. However, according to the media, both companies are working on a collaboration that will implement Roblox on Meta Quest devices in the coming months.
