Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed into law SB 7054, which bans the use of CBDCs within Florida. Also, Ethereum has implemented new updates to resolve the issue that prevented transactions from being completed on the network last weekend.

📍‌Ethereum clients have released new updates to resolve the finalization issues that occurred on the network last week. For at least an hour on Friday, May 12, Ethereum transactions were unable to reach finality due to unknown issues in the Beacon Chain.  

However, on his Twitter account, the Ethereum community leader stated that the loss of purpose of the network is part of the journey that the project has undertaken towards diversity and decentralization with Ethereum 2.0. 

According to the network's head, Ethereum clients Teku and Prism Labs have implemented new updates to fix transaction completion issues. 

More than 1 million active Bitcoin addresses

📍‌The number of active Bitcoin addresses has surpassed 1 million, according to data from Glassnode. Analytics firm Glassnode reported on Twitter that the number of active Bitcoin (BTC) addresses had reached 1.000.997 addresses for the first time on Saturday, May 13.

LG reaffirms its commitment to NFTs

📍‌The global consumer electronics brand will integrate NFTs into its smart TVs. LG is following in Samsung's footsteps and has Presentado a patent to integrate non-fungible tokens (NFT) into its smart TVs. With this initiative, LG wants to bring digital art into homes, making it easier for collectors and people in general to access the NFT token market. 

According to the company, users will be able to buy or sell NFTs by connecting their wallets to their smart TVs. Additionally, users of the brand will also be able to display their artwork or digital NFT pieces on their screens. 

LG had filed his patent application, to integrate NFTs into its smartTVs, in July of last year, as reported by this media.

📍‌Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed into law SB 7054, which bans the use of CBDCs within Florida. DeSantis has spoken out against central bank surveillance through CBDCs. In several speeches, the Florida governor has expressed concern about the control the Federal Reserve (FED) could exert over Americans if it issues a digital dollar. 

In line with the above, DeSantis has signed into law SB 7054, which was previously passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate, to ban the use of digital currencies issued by central banks. Florida's state law includes a ban on CBDCs from foreign governments, such as China's digital yuan. 

In her site, the current Florida government referred to CBDCs, especially the digital dollar, as “another way to increase surveillance and control of Americans.” 

Meanwhile, in the state of Texas, a group of legislators is seeking to include cryptocurrencies in the state's Bill of Rights, so that they can be recognize these digital assets as a valid medium of exchange. In this way, in Texas, people will have the right to own, use and hold cryptocurrencies to make purchases, trade and acquire goods and services under mutual agreement between the parties.
