WordPress, one of the world’s largest and most popular content management systems, will be able to integrate with the Ethereum blockchain to record a timestamp for its content on-chain, offering security, immutability and protection for the authors of digital information.
The content and web page management system WordPress, can now be integrated with a solution blockchain based on Ethereum call WordProof Timestamp. This plugin created by the company WordProof will allow users of this system to place a timestamp within the blockchain network, allowing the author to record the exact date and time of the creation of their content. With this new feature, it will now be possible to verify who created a specific content and whether it has been modified or altered, helping users to demonstrate and defend their copyright.
The integration of a timestamp into Ethereum brings all the benefits of this network to websites managed from WordPress, making it possible for users of this management system to time-stamp their content within the network and from the comfort of their WordPress site. The announcement was made by Sebastian Van der Lans, founder of WordProof, who during the virtual conference on blockchain, BlockDown 2020, noted that the timestamp on the Ethereum chain is a kind of unique and universal fingerprint that will help users protect their copyrights.
Furthermore, to make the feature easier to use for everyone, including those with no experience in blockchain management, Van der Lans said that the plugin only needs to be configured for it to work automatically and without complications.

Managing over a third of the world's websites
Según un report conducted by the research firm W3Techs, the WordPress management system encompasses and powers 38,7% of all websites in existence worldwide, and maintains a market share of over 63% for websites using CMS (Content Management System). All of these advantages are made possible by the creation of a unique hash for each post, web page, and content created in WordPress, which is immutably recorded within the blockchain, and allows for proving the exact moment in which a given piece of content was created, helping authors protect their creations. Likewise, if the content is changed or modified, the hash will also change, thus also allowing for proving whether the content was edited or manipulated afterwards.
