📍‌One of Japan's major newspapers, Asahi Shimbun, reported that more than 2.000 Japanese students attended a job fair across the Metaverse. According to the outlet, nearly 180 employment agencies and talent recruiters submitted their vacant positions through a platform promoted by Neo Career and X Inc. 

Students were able to attend the digital job fair using their smartphones, where they were able to create avatars to browse available jobs and participate in interviews with recruiters. 

This virtual job fair in the Metaverse was the largest event of its kind organized in the country so far. One of the organizing companies, Neo Career, said that the Metaverse offers great opportunities for those looking for work, as it allows them to maintain their spontaneity and talk to recruiters in the same way as at traditional fairs.

BlockFi to auction off part of its Bitcoin mining equipment

📍‌Bankrupt crypto mining company BlockFi has been granted permission by the bankruptcy court to auction off some of its mining equipment. With this, BlockFi aims to capitalize on the current interest in these devices in the market. 

Francis Petrie, the company's lawyer, said Bloomberg reported that BlockFi has received substantial bidding interest and must act quickly to capitalize on gains under current market conditions. Specifically, cryptocurrency volatility has pushed the price of Bitcoin up 40% over the past month to trade near $22.800, coupled with a sizable decline in energy prices. 

“Air Tech”, Madrid’s blockchain initiative to guarantee air quality

📍‌Madrid City Council has teamed up with startups Bye Radon and Armilis to promote a new blockchain-based environmental project. Ángel Niño, CEO of the innovation and entrepreneurship department of Madrid City Council, revealed on Twitter that the municipality is working on the development of a new blockchain-based project that will help the city guarantee air quality. 

This is “Air Tech”, a pilot project for measuring air quality that implements blockchain technology together with Artificial Intelligence to detect the presence of radon gas, a carcinogenic agent.

Kazakhstan moves towards cryptocurrency regulation

📍‌The Law on Digital Assets of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been approved by the country's Senate. This bill is aimed at creating a legal framework to recognize mining activity in the country, as well as recognizing exchanges and cryptocurrency trading platforms. This bill also establishes broader oversight of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, as well as greater fiscal control over the activities of entities participating in it. 

However, the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan recalled that the recently adopted draft law on digital assets of the Republic does not recognize cryptoassets as a means of payment or as financial instruments for investment.
