What currencies do Spaniards prefer?

Generation X is the one that invests the most in cryptocurrencies in Spain and Bitcoin is their favorite cryptocurrency.

Fintech Vivid has published the study X-ray of the Spanish Investor, which analyses the investment habits of the Spanish population. The study was carried out through a survey of 1.000 investors of all ages.

Unlike other investment studies, which place Millennials as those who invest the most in cryptocurrencies, Vivid's study places the Generation X (those between 57 and 41 years old) as the one that invests the most in cryptocurrencies (34%)Surprisingly, in second place (27% of respondents) are the Baby Boomers (born between 1945 and 1964).

In terms of investment habits, all age groups invest monthly, except for Generation X, which invests quarterly.

Moreover, the 23% of women invest in cryptocurrencies, against the 34% of menSimilarly, while 42% of men say they check the status of their investments daily, 30% of women do so weekly.

Which cryptocurrencies do Spanish investors prefer?

The Vivid study also points out which cryptocurrencies Spaniards invest in the most:

  • Bitcoin 20%.
  • Ethereum 13%.
  • Cardano 12%.
  • Solana 8%.
  • Polkadot 7%.

One of the most striking data from this study is the lack of knowledge of the sector by users. 9% of investors They don't know the differences between the different tokens and only 42% claim to have basic knowledge about cryptocurrencies.

By sex, the 51% of men claim to have solid knowledge of the sector, while only the 36% of women know how cryptocurrencies workOn the other hand, 17% of investors say that makes no effort to educate himself.

El 22% of respondents use online media to learn about cryptocurrencies, and 13% do so through social media. 

Regarding training, 4 out of 10 users say they would invest more if they had greater knowledge of the sector.

What else do Spaniards invest in?

The Vivid study also showed that younger people (Generation Z) prefer stocks by 38%, a figure that also contrasts with other published studies on investment.

Generation X and Z prefer stocks energy companies, while Baby Boomers and Millennials prefer companies technological, health and mobility.

Why do Spaniards invest?

The majority (6 out of 10) invest as protection, to combine savings with investment. 

2 out of 10 do it just for save, while others, especially those who bet on cryptocurrencies, do so for entertain.
