El Salvador's initiatives to accelerate its economic and technological growth include Bitcoin in the nation's educational curricula.
El Salvador has launched several initiatives focused on educating about the potential and capabilities of Bitcoin, the main cryptocurrency on the market.
For example, a Bitcoin software developer training program called CUBO+ was launched last year. The country has also been working on creating a new educational program focused on educating students at early stages about cryptocurrency.
CUBO+ and Node Nation, an educational program being developed by the Ministry of Education of El Salvador together with the non-profit organization Mi Primer Bitcoin and other participants, have the mission of Educating Salvadoran students about Bitcoin, its disruptive technology, importance and impact on various sectors of society.
Each of these educational programs is focused on specific goals, such as training a new generation of Bitcoin code developers and teaching about the capabilities of the new form of self-sovereign digital money that cryptocurrency represents.
Bitcoin in Salvadoran primary education
The National Bitcoin Office, an entity created by the Nayib Bukele government to deal with all areas related to Bitcoin and its technology, reported last week that the Ministry of Education and the NGO My First Bitcoin are Moving forward in the design and creation of a new educational program with which they will include Bitcoin in the public education system.
According to reported the office, the Ministry has begun to draw up a new Bitcoin study notebook, which will allow children in schools to learn about cryptocurrency and its importance.
José Mauricio Pineda, the country's minister of education, commented that this new study notebook represents a great opportunity to share their knowledge about the world's most powerful cryptocurrency with children in schools and educational centers.
Also participating in this initiative are John Dennehy, founder of the NGO Mi Primer Bitcoin; Lina Seiche, creator of The Little HODLer; and the CUBO+ training program, which is training the new generation of Bitcoin software and code developers in El Salvador.
The new form of self-sovereign digital money
El Salvador had announced the development of the new school education program last year, when the Salvadoran minister indicated that Bitcoin would be included in primary education to educate students at an early age about Bitcoin as the new next-generation self-sovereign digital money. Currently, several schools have included the cryptocurrency in their curricula, so there are already many students learning about Bitcoin, from theory to practice, Setting up nodes of Bitcoin and Lightning Network.
The creation of this educational plan represents an important milestone for both Bitcoin and El Salvador, which declared the cryptocurrency legal tender in September 2021.
The 2nd course of the CUBO+ program opens
In addition to working on the design of a new school education plan that includes Bitcoin, El Salvador also announced the opening of the second edition of its CUBO+ program.
On March 18, a new CUBO+ course from El Salvador opened. On X (formerly Twitter), the organizers of this program informed those interested that the application process is open and that they have until March 24 to register and request to be part of the experience and learning about one of the greatest disruptive technologies of our era.
CUBE+ is a SCHEDULE which offers a comprehensive education about Bitcoin, delving into its economic and philosophical aspects, and is accessible to university students and graduate professionals, students of technical and non-technical careers, and, in general, anyone interested in understanding how this technology works. However, those interested must register and submit the corresponding application to be selected.
As part of the training plan for the new generation of Bitcoin software developers, the program connects the most outstanding students with the PlanB Summer School in Lugano (Switzerland), so that they can strengthen their knowledge and skills in this technology.
In this way, El Salvador is integrating Bitcoin into education, one of the fundamental bases of the future of society.
Currently, the Central American country is ranked as the sixth with the largest holding of Bitcoin, after the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Germany and Ukraine. According to the BTC address made public by Bukele this month, the country holds 5.695,7 BTC, as of press time.
