Bitcoin deepens the educational fabric of El Salvador

El Salvador is demonstrating how Bitcoin and blockchain technology can improve our environment, whether from a financial or economic point of view or from a cultural or social point of view.

The Central American nation passed, in 2021, a Bitcoin Law to become the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. Since then, it has been promoting the innovation and technological development as one of the many benefits of these emerging technologies.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, Bitcoin attracted more than 1 million tourists in the first five months of the year, raising the previous year's figures by 42%. Morena Valdez, the tourism minister, said El Salvador has become more attractive to foreign surf and digital culture enthusiasts since it adopted Bitcoin.

The nation has also become more attractive to investors. Volcano Energy has begun construction of a Mega Bitcoin Mining Farm which will be powered by a renewable energy generation park located in the municipality of Metapán. According to the company's reports, this farm will begin operations with 241 megawatts of power until gradually reaching an energy capacity of 20.000 megawatts.

Volcano Energy will also lead El Salvador to become the first country in the world to launch a National Bitcoin Mining Pool

On the other hand, recently, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele announced a Seven-year strategic alliance with Google with the aim of promoting its digital transformationThrough this strategic alliance, Google will help the nation transform and digitize its education, health and government systems.

Other notable developments that El Salvador has achieved with Bitcoin have been the construction of the Chivo Pets Veterinary Hospital, the first of its kind to be funded with cryptocurrency. Also notable are the creation of its own digital wallet Chivo Wallets, the construction of the LaGeo SA data center, the design of the metropolis bitcoin city, which was awarded this year with the LOOP Design Awards and the installation of its own Bitcoin node in March of this year.

Due to its disruptive, revolutionary and transformative potential, the nation is incorporating Bitcoin into one of the fundamental pillars of society: education.

The CUBO + program began in early July with 21 students who were selected from 150 applicants through various tests and exams. At the end of the training and internship phase, CUBO + will be graduating the First generation of Bitcoin and Lightning Network developers from El Salvador

El Salvador will be the 2nd nation with the most Bitcoin nodes

The countries that lead the Lightning Network today, in relation to the number of nodes installed, are the United States, Germany and France, according to the data from the Bitnodes platform. However, this reality would be about to change drastically with El Salvador's new plans.

According to Bitcoiner Stacy Herbert, once all 6.000 Lightning Network nodes are installed in El Salvador, the nation will rank second among countries with the highest number of installed Lightning Network nodes worldwide, just behind the United States.
