Ledger, one of the world's largest hardware wallet providers, has announced that it will soon be launching its seventh cryptocurrency wallet, a collaboration with Tony Fadell, the creator of the original iPod.
Tony Fadell is the creator of the iPod Classic and has partnered with Ledger to create the Ledger Stax, which will be the firm’s latest wallet device. The news was announced yesterday, December 6th, at Ledger’s twice-annual Web3 developer event, the Ledger Op3n, in Paris.
This new wallet will be the size of a credit card and will include a large e-ink screen, a capacitive touch screen, wireless charging, Bluetooth and other new features, such as a curved e-ink screen on which the holder's name or other wallet data can be added, as if it were the cover of a book. Additionally, Stax will incorporate magnets so that users can organize the storage of different similar devices and stack them neatly.
Ledger Stax was designed by Tony Fadell in collaboration with industrial design firm Layer, seeking “ease of use to extend the security of digital assets to all types of users.” According to this announcement, Ledger Stax will be available in the first quarter of 2023 and customers can already pre-order this wallet on Ledger’s official website. In the future, this wallet will be available in stores that offer quality products, such as BestBuy in the US.
The Ledger Stax wallet is priced at USD 279 and is significantly more expensive than Ledger's previous wallet, the Ledger Nano S Plus, as it incorporates many new features. Ledger has explained that this new wallet seeks to facilitate interaction and the signing of transactions, for which it has a touch screen and a larger screen. Ledger also explains that this wallet "allows customers to choose the type of experience they want."
